Extremely poor

The place was absolutely filthy, and when I spoke to owner they didn't seem bothered at all. No slates on the bed just a mattress on top of another mattress, paint peeling of the damp walls, the smell was awful. No remotes for the rooms so couldnt watch anything, building was next to what looked like a derelict warehouse, dead bugs everywhere, and floors looked like they had never been cleaned.

False advertisement. Please avoid! The location of the property is not as shown on booking.com. You will get the real address only after your payment is taken. It is not a cottage. It is a 6 in a block on an industrial estate in the middle of a nowhere.. No sea views and no walking path to the shore. Nowhere nearby to go out for food and drinks.. No parking spaces for guests.

Host has not provided check-in instructions and access code. I was unable to access the property. Refused refund. Booking.com wouldn't help.

Disappointing. In need of a good clean and some tlc.

Location was good, only a short walk to the coast.

Overwhelming smell of damp and dog throughout the property ( all windows were open on our arrival!) There were two air fresheners but required re fills. Couldn’t have the back door open due to the kennel smell. The stair carpet was filthy too. Luckily, as the weather was so nice we were out most of the time. I would not have stayed in this property for a longer period. I will not be recommending or staying again.

Great Property Perfect Location K

Fantastic Old Cottage very nicely decorated and cozy especially the bed's best nights sleep in a long time. Location is perfect for beach and 1hr from Windermere Lake and most of the Lake District. The price we paid this was an absolute bargain. Owner was great with communication and everything we needed was supplied.

I would not say I didn't like this place at all however people should bear in mind this is a very old cottage the ceilings are not perfectly flat but certainly NOT falling down as suggested in some reviews. The front of the cottage has amazing views however the rear is a little tatty not the fault of the owner at all and caused no issues with our stay just kept Blind in the kitchen down. Didn't see or hear from the neighbours at all and felt like we were there all alone Please take the bad reviews with a pinch of salt as in my opinion they are extremely unfair on this property. Parking is up a lane in laybys which is completely understandable as neighbours live there and spaces are limited. It appears to be a boat garage at the rear of property however no noise from there at all.

Looked good in the pictures, in reality it did not meet expectations.

The bed was comfortable. The decoration was nice and cozy. There was use of a microwave and toaster . The customer service was good and responsive for some issues. It was close to the sea. The sea could just be seen from the top floor window.

There was no door mat which meant that water was brought in to the house from the frequently flooded entrance area. This was difficult to keep clean and dry. The decor was dusty and unclean, there were lots of holes on the walls and some damp. The water system groaned loudly. The Outlook from the windows downstairs was awful, overgrown and unkempt. The passage outside the back door smelled revolting, it could not be used because of the stench. The sofa's are low in parts. The house is part of a terrace and there are barking dogs on both sides. The house was well over priced for it's state of distress and well needed repair. Water was coming into through the front window and soaking the front room floor.

The cottage was very inviting, comfortable beds, the views were to die for. The owner was extremely helpful when the boiler broke down. Tom talked us through rebooting it, and it worked straight away. Easy to get to. Clean and tidy. Will definitely be going back. Hubby and niece Chelsea and myself all lived it.

Where do I start! The positives: the inside of the house was fine and clean, the bathroom was good. The negatives: a really depressing spot, no effort at all in front of the house, depressing views out the back, no proper outside space, I was convinced that our car would be stolen overnight. Seaview is a misnomer, there is overgrown vegetation to the front of house which obscures any view. There is a view of the sea, some quarter of mile away, from the bedroom but this house is in a very depressing spot; we left after one night. Also no loo paper, no bedside lights, very odd water driven fake fire in the living room, ( if you have a wood pile there why not have the facility to burn it?). A wifi code that is indecipherable. Just feels unloved, no effort to show an effort has been made. The worst Airbnb we have had the misfortune to visit. Don’t bother.

Holiday from hell

Nothing

The property was not clean at all, there were spiders on every surface and I’m covered in blisters and bites. The shower was unusable due to the number of bugs in it. As soon as we arrived a man screamed at us for parking which as two young women in a strange place was a very scary experience and not something we were warned about. The ceiling looked like it was going to cave in in the second bedroom. And the area it’s in is a very ugly overgrown industrial estate which they are not upfront with on the pictures. We spent the entire holiday anxious and uncomfortable. We went expecting the other bad reviews to be exaggerated but I can honestly say that it was worse than we imagined. I will be pursing a refund via booking.com as this was not where near worth nearly 400 quid.

Appalling don't do it,

Nothing, to be honest driving away was the best part.

House full of moss and damp on the inside with paint falling onto the bed our children were going to sleep in, we refused to stay and booked another property with booking.com expecting they would be as shocked as we were by the pictures we took. The host just stated it wasn't a new build and booking.com offered compensation of £39.08 which was an insult and we refused. Unsafe to stay in and depressing. Would like to post more pictures to back up our review but unable to as words can't describe how bad this place is. If you do go, look out for the broken satellite dish and the smashed outside light and you found your destination.

Disappointed. Location of the cottage is odd, right near an industrial estate, worth adding to listing for future guests. At first glance you are greeted by a nice large living / dinning area, but on further inspection you see the cobwebs, the mold & paint peeling. Fire doesn't pump heat, VERY disappointing as this was one of the main things we wanted, to make stay cozy. Central heating is great & kept us very warm though. Kitchen has a smell, assume from mold & rain coming in at back door, left puddle on floor. Kitchen well equipped, could do with a bread knife. Upstairs is ok, second bedroom needs celling redoing as it looks like it might come in. Master radiator doesn't work & window doesn't close properly, over all bedrooms were livable. Work has been done in bathroom, overshadowed, by black mold mark on the wall as you walk in. Unfortunately would not stay again while in this condition. Dog in cage at back, upsetting, parrot next door is VERY loud. Near to beach which was nice.

Cottage fine.

No parking and industrial estate right by it which had loud banging coming from it , early on the Saturday and Sunday morning. The ajoining cottage was very noisy with a screeching parrot and a German shepherd dog outside in a pen, barking. The volume from their TV was so loud it kept us a wake until 3am. We didn't stay for the 3rd night we couldn't face another night without sleep.

Please be aware of what you're booking before you book.

The cottage has a rustic decor and feel and you can see the sea from the front window. The bath was nice and large.

When we arrived at the property we couldn't find it for nearly half an hour. When asking the locals they pointed us the right way and in their words 'it's a con' because the photos on Booking.com and the reality are not a match. We were under the impression that the cottage was a detached or semi detached property with its own land. But in fact it's a mid terrace cottage with practically no outdoor space. The parking situation is also stressful. There's clearly some issues with some of the neighbours and there's a limited amount of on road parking for all the cottages in the row. But the biggest elephant in the room is the fact that the property backs on to a scruffy, unkempt industrial estate and (I'm not making this up) there's a large cage directly behind the cottage with a German shepherd guard dog kept there all day that barks continually and various delapidated trailers and cars scattered about. There's also an unpleasant smell emanating from the rear entry area which was seeping into the rear kitchen slightly. One of the first things we did was buy an air freshener for the kitchen. We pulled the kitchen blind down and tried not to look out that window. We realise that some of these issues are out of the owners control, but the owner could certainly do more to be honest about the properties flaws. There's also a list of other smaller 'snags' at the property such as broken window locks and the TV coming on when it feels like it. All in all, we made the most of it, but we certainly wouldn't go back and we felt for almost £1000 for the week, we were expecting much more.

Filthy, dusty and in need of maintenance. Asked for cleaner to come back and finish cleaning but didn’t get a reply. Dis

The property is nicely furnished and spacious

The property is listed as a cottage when in-fact it is within a row of terraced houses. Very noisy neighbours with very loud parrot. The property is in very much need of repair, with damp, crumbling walls, paint peeling, wallpaper peeling. Cleanliness doesn’t seem to be a priority with old cobwebs and multiple spiders (not just the odd spider). Filthy windows and windowsills. A distinct lack of attention to detail and lack of care.

Beautiful location for a short stay, just be aware of the thin walls and vocal pets in surrounding cottages.

It’s location and living room. The beds were comfortable and everything worked that we used. The views were lovely.

There was a damp smell throughout the property. No wooden spoon/pizza cutter in the kitchen. The walls are very thin so you can hear a lot of noise from the neighbours. Including parrots and dogs.

It is really nice, warm and cosy place for a weekend getaway . The location is perfect 2 min walks to the beach, 3 min to pub that serves very good food and drinks and if you have enough of a sea you've got beautiful mountains to hike, just 30 min's away in a car. It's old but still in a good shape cottage ( considering the age) so I don't know what some people moaning about. It is well equipped and the owners are very kind and helpful if you need them.

Nothing. Maybe a little bin in a bathroom would be a nice addition.

An adventure. Once inside, its lovely, and a great location.

The bathroom was very nice, the location was excellent in terms of close to beach etc. Downstairs was very cosy, and the candles and the mice were a nice touch. Mrs T's ice cream on the beach was amazing, and further along towards the town we had the best fish and chips ever. Also an amazing kids park in town.

Just needs some TLC. Probably because its near the end of of the summer. First impressions were awful. Parking was a nightmare, and it felt like it had abandoned cars and units outside. The neighbours really dont seem to care about their property. So its all just messy and like a junk yard. But we had a great time, and it is SOOO cosy. Get in, light the candles, link your phone to the blue tooth speaker and get some relaxed tunes on. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Needs some TLC

The cottage was in a good location, with walks to the beach, a bar and a shop very close by. The downstairs was nice with a cozy living room and good facilities.

The house was very damp. The wall paper was peeling, the walls crumbling and the carpets in the bedrooms smelled. The places needs a lot of TLC. It has great potential but it needs new wallpaper and a deep clean. The single beds bedroom felt grimy; mirrors dirty, carpets stained and a lot of the decorations were broken. I wouldn’t stay again unless it was better cared for.

Cottage was fabulous, clean, cozy and well equipped. The kids loved finding the little wooden carved mice that are placed around the cottage, really nice touch as was all the rustic and seaside themed decor, lot of thought has gone into this place for sure. Perfect base to explore the coast and Lake District. Beds was super comfy and the roll top bath after a long walk was heaven. Kids enjoyed colouring in a pebble or two to leave in the front of the cottage to go with other guests pebbles. Would we stay again? Defiantly !! Already planning a return visit. Cottage was in a lovely peaceful spot right on the coast, only a field with horses in at the front of the cottage separates it from the sea.. really peaceful. Our kids loved it there so much so we have already booked again for December when the mountains are guaranteed to have a covering of snow according to the locals. We recommend a walk up black Combe fell ( the huge mountain in the background of the cottage, can’t miss it) views are amazing over the whole Lake District, Scotland the coast and even the Isle of Man! The parking is a donation in the honesty box in Witcham church car park and is just a five min drive to get to from the cottage… it’s a must in a clear day. Everyone in Haverigg are so friendly, always say hello/ good morning. Kitchen was very well equipped and the dishwasher was a blessing. Great food in the water sports lake ski bar literally less than 5 mins walk from the cottage, fantastic food, we ate there both nights. Perfect base to explore the lakes and the Cumbria coast which is beautiful. The beds was so comfy, even the kids mattresses was high end John Lewis mattresses (we had a look:-)) Cottage is very well equipped and even has a tv in every room. Roll top bath was to die for after a long days exploring with the kids, even the candles are supplied. Roll on December when we are staying again! It seems most guests leave a pebble from the beech on the back of the bench at the front of the cottage, we was no exception and left 1 pebble for each of us :-)

Only thing we did not like was going home time.

Sea view cottage in a quiet location. Great bath and comfy beds. The view from the front was lovely with the horses and sea, but the back of the property not so much so kept the blind of the kitchen shut so we couldn't see the large dog in its kennel nor caravan. The immediate area is all a bit scruffy and difficult to park. A covered area next to the kitchen looked dingy and damp. Unfortunately, we probably wouldn't return.

Awesome ! will definitely repeat if we have the chance

The house was awesome. All the appliances were working as expected. Apart from the malfunctioned door lock (quickly rectified by the owner to give us a peace of mind), everything else were good. The beds were comfy and the house is just a walking distance from the beach.

1. more rubbish bins in the house would be better 2. more mirror in the house would have been better especially for a group of ladies like us ;) 3. room and bathroom doors were unable to be locked. it was okay for a close knitted group like us but might not be ideal for ppl who wants to have some privacy.

Not quite what was expected

The downstairs smelt so bad that we had to stay upstairs. The cottage clearly has a damp issue compounded by the covered courtyard at the rear. The courtyard itself you couldn’t go into because it smelt like a kennel. Trying to hide it with plug in air fresheners made it worse. You could write your name in the dust on the cooker and the huge mirror by the table needed a good clean it had a disgusting film over it. Upstairs the mattress on the double bed is horrific and no pillow or mattress protectors. The detergent used to wash the bedding was so pungent it made me nauseous. The smaller room had DVDs on the floor and a clock that ticked so loudly we had to remove the battery. The noise from the neighbours’ parrots was unbearable and the barking at the rear from an Alsatian dog that belonged to the caravan parked at the back of the property. The shower cubicle was ridiculously tiny for no apparent reason. The kitchen was well equipped but the fridge door was full of smears. We basically just slept there as spending time there wasn’t really feasible.

Not much

The fact that everything was misleading from the location which was in a industrial estate to the guided attractions, ie telling me scafell pike was 10.9 miles when infact it was 29 miles. I choose this property believing the information was correct to which it wasn't. To add to why it is a poor review is I believe it's false reviews I've read off the property, nobody has mentioned there is a massive dog that barks constantly from the back in it's kennel & some weird possible prehistoric bird that that has the strangest loudest squak from 7 - 10pm you can't even hear the TV for it. The house was nicely decorated but very unclean clearly it don't get cleaned by a proper cleaner. Also pictures suggested there a log burner which it doesn't it's electric with real logs next to it. Just to top it off the house is full off flies. Another thing it wouldn't be dog friendly as there is no garden & your dog would get run over from the boy racers who rally up & down the road at dangerous speeds.

Little gem, located right on the coast

We had a lovely stay, cottage was decorated in a coastal cottage theme and was lovely. The costal location was perfect for us, the kids loved walking down to the beach and we walked for hours looking fir wildlife and enjoying the fantastic view down the coast and over the Lake District mounts in the back ground. Perfect base to explore the Lake District coast and inland. A walk up black Combe that dominates the cottage back ground gave us breath taking views for miles, defiantly worth the walk, we could even see the Isle of Man!! Kids want to return already so will be back for sure.

Everything was lovely, so no bad points.

Cozy and spotlessly clean, well presented and everything needed for our stay. Quiet peaceful location a stones throw from the sea front and perfect for exploring the Lake District. Horses in the field at the front of the cottage was beautiful. We recommend a walk up Black Combe the views from the top of the coast and lake district are breath taking. Already planning another stay as there is so many places we still want to visit. Mr T,s home made ice cream on the sea front is a must. Can’t wait to return later this year!!

There was nothing we did not like, everything was as we hoped it would be :)

Enjoyable. Good location and near a bird reserve.

Good location, nice clean property, nice decor.

Property could have been easier to find! A few more directions would have helped. More waste bins in the property would have been good, there were none in bathroom or bedrooms

Lovely cottage internally. Area immediately around the property was very scruffy

House internally was clean and nicely presented. Close to the sea front.

Externally immediately outside the cottage, especially at the back was scruffy and it was very difficult to find anywhere to park. Every evening between 7-10.30 parrots were squawking loudly in the attached cottage

Lovely stay

The facilities are great, lovely little beach and camp site at the bottom of the road. Decor beautiful in the house. Felt like sleeping in a cloud. The bath is also beautiful. Thanks for a lovely stay

Quiet area, but perfect for what we wanted. The area has a few houses around, but absolutely no issues.

Gorgeous Location

We had a fab week in the cottage which was spotlessly clean. Great facilities and well equipped. Just like a home from home. Handy location for exploring the Lake District and further afield. So comfortable and peaceful, can’t wait to come back. Recommend Deanos Place for glorious fish and chips!

Lovely stay

A very stylish and cosy cottage, only few minutes walk to the seaside. Everything is brand new and gives a proper home from home feel. Quiet and peaceful. Great for children. Great location for exploring Lake District, Coniston and Wast Water around 40 min drive, as well as Sandscale Haws National Nature Reserve. All facilities for a short or long stay, Tesco Superstore is very close.
