The house is beautiful from the outside and has a lovely big garden for sitting in and playing. The BBq and seating area are in a lovely sunny spot. There is plenty of u parking and an easy walk to a nice pub. We went to Bletchley and Whipsnade Zoo for days out, and the property is well located for these. The house is Tudor, and so has the expected lovely wonky floors and very very low beams. It has a cosy sitting room. There does seem to be some maintenance needing doing though and there’s some damp coming in around the usual places in old properties when thatching is wearing out around chimney stacks. This was fine for a short stay in a dry spell, and didn’t cause us any issues at all except a slight smell. There are only two bathrooms, and the upstairs. The downstairs one is just a loo in a laundry cupboard - but it is fine. If there are 12 people staying then there perhaps would not be enough dining table space and would be a queue for the bathroom.

A great house for large family gathering that was happy with children, babies and dogs! The garden and play area was great for the children but the boundary isn’t secure in the back or front garden so be mindful of this if you have dogs that like to go on their own adventures. The area is great and we had some wonderful walks - it was such a shame the village pub was closed, it looked lovely and I’m sure others would enjoy it when they travel to the house. Thank you for accommodating us!

Nice place, Had a weekend away for board games and there was great big tables for us to play on. Bring slippers as there is a few stone floors who are naturally cold.

The property was very old and due to age was very quirky. Had to get used to the uneven floors and low beams/ doorways. Peaceful place for a family get together.

We just spent Christmas at Yew Tree Cottage and it was everything and more that we could have asked for. The children had plenty of room to play, it was very spacious and beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations. We will definitely be coming back. The little village was lovely, although we didn’t get to experience the pub we will next time. Next to the pub there is a great little park for children and a football net, which my boy loved. We highly recommend, thank you for a lovely stay!

It's an old property so a few quirks to be expected, like the very sloping floor in the top bedroom. Quite a few steps between ground floor rooms, and bedrooms, and very steep stairs, so not really suitable for someone with mobility problems. It says there are three bathrooms but there are only two, plus a downstairs cloakroom. Positives: very well-equipped kitchen, lovely garden and children's play area, comfortable living rooms and plenty of space to spread out, lots of parking, Carrington Arms 5 minutes walk down the road is excellent, easy communication with host, quiet but very easily accessible from M1.

This place is absolutely brilliant for family get togethers. The weather helped as we were all playing games in the huge garden. The decor is a bit shabby and needs sorting. There are not 3 bathrooms as advertised but 2 bathroms and a further toilet. I did get this clarified from the owner. Overall, we had a great time but the place definitely needs a really deep clean, some maintenance and decorating.

We were two families of 4 and a couple, and between the plentiful living space and generous garden we did not want for space. The location is also excellent, with lots of great family activities and superstores all within a 10 minute drive. We stayed for 3 nights and were out during the day time, and the place suited us just fine for that. However if we were staying for longer I suspect the charm of the 300 year old cottage would have started to wear off, due to things such as old mattresses, two of the 3 fridges being either in disrepair or not working at all, and a general sense of the place feeling a little tired and needing some TLC in some areas.

This property is really spacious so plenty of places to relax as part of a large group. It is a pretty village with a pub that does food within walking distance - again a bonus for a group. And lots of options for activities/outings nearby. Loads of toys/games and plenty of equipment in the kitchen. The cottage has bags of character and charm - as others have said, in places it is a bit tired, with a few things that don’t work and dated bathrooms (albeit spotlessly clean.) This is not modern/sound proofed designer living - it’s a beautiful historic building.

Very enjoyable stay and helpful host.

Location was very good and the property was a very interesting historic house with plenty of room for a large group of people. Very good garden for the children. Well equipped kitchen. Good parking area.

The front door was very awkward to lock. Gaseous smell from bathroom upstairs from possibly vent pipe. Travel cot did not have a suitable mattress for a baby. One of the fridges in the kitchen was not working.

Quirky cottage in a lovely village. Myselfand 7 friends stayed at Yew Tree Cottage for a long weekend. The house is very unique with sloppy floors and narrow staircases. We couldn’t get the big fridge to work, but luckily there were two other fridges we could use. I was going to bring my dog with me, but after looking at street view I saw the house was on a road and the garden is sadly not dog proof (cut out in hedge). We heard a few ‘boy racers’ over night, but other than that the house is quite sound proof. The Carrington Arms is a lovely pub to visit for dinner. Thanks for having us :-)

I need to let you know that my friends were disappointed with the accommodation at Yew Tree Cottage. The stairs were very difficult to negotiate, there were 2 bathrooms not 3 as described, the step down into the kitchen was a hazard, there were insuffi ient bedside lights. It was inappropriate for elderly people.

We spent a lovely family weekend staying at Yew Tree Cottage celebrating a birthday. The space was great for the 11 of us and the children had so much fun exploring all the rooms and quirky features, the ‘secret stairs’ being their favourite. Good communication from Matthew before and during our stay.

We booked Yew Tree Cottage for an early family Christmas. It was beyond our expectations. The freezing weather and laying snow added to the Christmassy feeling. We all felt at home, relaxed and Christmassy. It was like Christmas was a place! The house had character with all the old beams, uneven floors and a lovely working fireplace. Plenty of room for the 11 of us.

For 8 adults and 4 children the house had plenty of room for us all. Overall, the house is a bit tired. Yes it is very old and quirky but threadbare stair carpets and broken windows spoilt the overall effect. The house was difficult to keep warm - the open fire was a great feature. It would have been good to have had an instruction book for the cooker - and the sink tap was a nightmare to understand how to get hot water from it - I resorted to boiling the kettle instead!

An amazing, quirky house full of charm and character, an excellent place for a family reunion but not really suitable for people with mobility limitations due to sloping floors and old stairs. Excellent location and very easy to find off the M1 (barely 5 minutes)

We had an excellent stay here to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday. Matthew was very helpful and easy to contact. The house was perfect for our needs and the children loved exploring the different rooms and playing hide and seek as well as spending a lot of time on the climbing frame and swing in the garden. We would definitely return to Yewtree cottage.

We enjoyed our stay at this huge, characterful cottage. It easily accommodated our large group, and it was fun exploring all the rooms, which are as pictured. Heating and hot water were not working throughout half the house during our stay. The owner did try to help us fix the boiler remotely, but it wasn't possible in the end. Luckily the other half has a separate boiler so we could still have a warm shower, and there were plenty of portable oil heaters provided. Features like the big double oven and two sitting rooms made this a great place for a big group. The decor is tired but comfortable, and as shown in the photos. The garden is huge and looked lovely, but we didn't make use of it in the weather. The location was really convenient for travel, nice village near a pub, and a one good walk from the doorstep. It's not luxury accommodation but was exactly what we were looking for.

The house was ideal for our weekend family get-together of 7 adults and 3 children - first for 2 years. It had a wow factor of thatch, old oak beams, whitewashed walls and a large open fireplace - and we weren't disappointed. Two lounges, nice, cosy and warm on arrival. It was super to have a log fire in the evening. The dining room and table was big enough for everyone. Plenty of space for cars. Wifi was fine throughout house. Spare portable radiators were helpful. Didn't use the garden (it was February) but looked good for children. We used the public young children's play area down the road at the Millenium Hall. One of the key points for us was easy access in the middle of winter, with people coming from Liverpool, Kent and London. The M1 J14 is near and MK station 12 minutes away. We visited Stoke Bruerne on the Grand Union canal for the day and had lunch in the Canal museum cafe. We had hoped to see a boat going through the locks and do Treasure Trails but it was too cold! On a calmer day we parked at Bow Brickhill church car park MK17 9LQ and walked in the direction of Aspley Heath to the ancient Danesborough Camp. If people had been up to it we would have gone on to Nonna's cafe/restuarant. It was the windiest weekend for many years and it blew out the heating boiler for half the house (in the end a number of times). A call to Matthew was instantly answered with how to restart (he replied instantly to confirm a freezer before we arrived). One of the bathrooms could do with a lock and we struggled to get hot water using the Pudin tap in the kitchen. But, a memorable weekend.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is enormous and it felt like we were exploring a maze at some points. A lovely garden with some great outdoor apparatus which kept the kids happy and entertained. A couple of small maintenance issues but nothing big enough to impact our enjoyment of the stay. Thanks to the thoughtful and communicative hosts for a lovely stay!
