Quirky Seaside Family Cottage, walk to the waves!

8 guests · 2 bedrooms · 4 beds · 1 bathroom

Gorgeous Brunswick Beach cottage is located in the heart of beautiful, vibrant and eclectic Hove, just off the seafront and a short 2 minute walk from Hove's high quality independent shops, cafés, restaurants, bars but still also walking distance to the exuberant central Brighton! 15 minutes walk to Brighton's central shopping district and bar culture. The cottage is always great place of fun, whether it is for a family event or a gathering of friends, it's airy space has party feeling. As a family we love getting there as it is so different to our Country home, you feel you are in a holiday mood the moment you go through the door! Due to our growing family; we created a small teenage hangout area with floor sofa that pulls out to a large sleeping area. This room opens up to the small courtyard area with bio fold doors enabling this small room to feel spacious and airy listening to the seagulls above. The bathroom has pink hexagonal wall tiles and a marble herringbone floor laid, giving the room a warm and relaxing tone. Brunswick Beach House is full of history; built in 1822 and was originally the drawing rooms of Charles Busby, the internationally acclaimed architect who designed the neoclassical Brunswick Town, adjacent to which Brunswick Beach House is situated. Today, Brunswick Beach House offers guests a unique and memorable holiday experience. The main living area is encompassed by a stunning arched ceiling, which was rediscovered in 2001 when the property was featured on the British television series 'Grand Designs Indoors' presented by Kevin McCloud. Open plan with triple aspect windows, it is a fabulous space in which to socialise, eat and drink, or simply relax whilst enjoying the Smart / 3D television, Sound Bar and Lutron lighting system. The cottage offers cosy nooks for adults and children, respectively. The master bedroom contains a luxurious king-sized four poster bed and has a contemporary design. In the second bedroom, there are playful and fun bunk beds for the kids to enjoy, as well as a funky alcove incorporating a double bed and a further television. Brunswick Beach house is designed for our family with age ranges from 14yrs to 3yrs so we have made sure there is something for little people to do whilst older ones kick back. There are a range of toys and puzzles including a dolls house, duplo, play kitchen, small ride on car, pram, books and a magnetic wall to keep children of various ages engaged. The cottage is fabulous, and is always a place of fun. It is well suited to suited for families but we have accommodated many groups of adults for short stays. Sleeping arrangements are; Bedroom 1: Sleeps 2 adults in a super king bed. Bedroom 2: Sleeps 3 adults and 2 children in a double bed, a triple bunk with a adult single and 2 junior beds (160 x 70cm, average single is 190 x 90cm) Garden room: sleeps 2 adults on a floor sofa bed The cottage is a skip, hop and jump from the beautiful promenade. With the sea one side and Hove lawns the other, where you can play ball games or visit one of the many events often taking place in Brighton and Hove. The wide promenade is a great place for young and old. Directly opposite the cottage the seafront is relatively unspoilt with buildings, just the odd cafe. However within 5 minutes you will reach the iconic (burnt) West Pier where you will find the newly built British airways i360, along with a arcade of new shops. There is a lovely play park just here and a stretch of new shops. Continue a little further and you are in the heart of the Brighton beach bar culture. The cottage is just over 15 minutes walk to the Brighton Centre, 20 minutes to the start of the South laines and just under 30 minutes to Brighton Pier. Parking There is no parking with cottage, however there are pay and display options around the cottage. The cheapest is on the seafront (2 minutes from the cottage) at £12.40 for 24 hours. Previous guests have also reserved parking about 3 streets away at £15 for 24 hours. They said it worked well. This would guarantee you a parking space in advance in summer months. When we go for more than 3 days we often park out of town for free and then make the 20min walk back as you don't need a car once you are there.

Very unusual place to stay. In a brilliant location, for a summer stay would be superb. A few cranky things to contend with in the house but very friendly and if you are a bit bohemian you’ll love it. Recommend if you’re a bit adventurous and want something fun and quirky rather than deluxe!!!

The instructions on how to find and access the cottage were very clear. We were a family of 4 visiting Brighton and all felt immediately at home when we entered the cottage. Looks just like the photos. The kitchen was well equipped and clean, as was the rest of the place. Lots of lovely coffee shops and restaurants in the local area, and just a few minutes walk from the sea. We would stay again if we were in the area.

Looks nice in the pics but knackered in reality.

It was an interesting place to stay with lots of nice things for children, and great proximity to the beach. What spoiled things were the place wasn’t clean, and things weren’t ready when we arrived. It looks great on the pics but is really worn, with things like faulty light bulbs and basement bedroom /mini lounge was really damp & cold, and had the smell of damp. Communication with contact/host was patchy, plus parking in the area was a real pain & expensive.

Looks great in the pics & fun for children, but really worn out and knackered, making it feel like it wasn’t good value for money. We certainly wouldn’t stay there again.

We had a great time during our stay at the Brunswick Beach Cottage in Hove. This place is indeed providing a unique and memorable holiday experience. From the moment we stepped through the door, we could feel the joyful holiday mood taking over, making it the perfect escape from everyday life. The location of the cottage is unbeatable. We enjoyed leisurely walks along the promenade and the beautiful Hove lawns just a stone's throw away from the seafront. Exploring the vibrant neighbourhood was a delight, with independent shops, cafes, and restaurants within a short walk. Moreover, it was great to know that central Brighton was also within easy reach, making it convenient to immerse ourselves in the lively bar culture and shopping district.

Heavenly house in Hove

A wonderful quirky and stylish apartment, spacious, clean and cozy. The place is very well equipped with everything you need and we slept well in comfortable beds. The rainforest shower was heaven and I loved the little yard which was so nice to sit in and also helpful for drying wetsuits overnight! The location is perfect, just one block from the sea, with lovely shops and cafes at the top of the street. My 80 yr old mum and 11 yr old son loved it equally! It was hard to leave!

Lovely, quirky cottage.

We were in Brighton to attend the noughty 90s festival, this was a great base for us. The facilities were excellent and the proximity to the beach was great! The host was very helpful and provided lots of information.

Nothing at all, we would go back!

Great location, fun quirky house, just needs a bit of TLC.

Size, space, location and quirkiness. Beds were comfortable & water pressure of shower was nice. Also the host was very helpful and friendly. She also left a welcome bottle of wine and some choccies for us.

Was in need of some TLC & repair work. A few things were broken or tired. For example all the internal doors were cracked, front panel of bunk drawer broken, handheld shower attachment loose and woobly and dog biscuits stuck in between the glass panels of the stairs. This was probably just an unfortunate oversight of the cleaners but there were some lipstick tissues and a bracelet left in the garden room when we arrived.

A colourful comfortable and quirky cottage, excellent host and all facilities in very good order.

Firstly the Host... Sarah... was amazing and very friendly in all our communications. The cottage was bright and light and very clean. It is quirky, colourful and a fun place to stay. We were a group of 5, no children and it suited us perfectly. It is set up for children if you have them. Sarah had left a welcome gift of bubbly and chocolate. The amenities and linen provided was exactly as described. The rooms are very comfortable. Water lovely and hot and a good pressure. The heating was good and easily controlled. Sarah left a leaflet explaining everything about the property and she was available on the phone in the event of any problems if we had needed to contact her. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property. The property is just down from Western Road and very close to the seafront and was perfect for getting to various venues in Brighton. The cottage is set away from the hustle and bustle and our stay was very peaceful.

Nothing....it was ideal and exactly as described.

Bright, open and clean with great communal space for chilling. Host was great and provided us with a bottle of prosecco upon arrival, lovely touch.

1 bathroom between 8 adults was a bit tough but appreciate not much can be done about that. It was a little far from Brighton centre but good for beach and little shops at the top of the road.
