Coastal Cottage in Colbost - Perfect for Two

Mysigt hus med fantastisk utsikt. Allt man behövde, väldigt bekvämt. Fåren gick runtom. Nära till olika besöksmål som the neist point, coral sands, Dunvegan castle och the three chimneys där vi åt en fantastisk middag.

Det var lite trångt i den ena sängen pga snedtak men svårt att göra något åt det :-)

Nothing to not like about this place.... gorgeous setting, clean, beautifully furnished, awesome shower and the information provided by the host was super helpful. Lost a point for the fact that you need to strip your own beds but overall, we'd highly recommend this place.

The bedroom is small and one bed is under tight slope and is quite challenging for tall people. One of us relocated to the fold out couch

It is like a surprise when you coming in, we arrived in the dark and outside it looked like a shed when we came in it was amazing, so much character in such a small space , we absolutely loved it!

We liked everything

Cozy accommodation with lovely views. This was a great home base for spending our days on Skye out exploring the northern/western sides of the Island. We feel the bothy description, photos, and previous reviews accurately reflect the unit. Would stay here again!

First impression was the stunning views and the small size of the property. In fact the cottage had been well thought out with views to the loch and distant mountains and the layout worked well for two people. Everything was clean and comfortable. WiFi worked well. Off road parking outside cottage. Location was at end of no through road so no passing traffic. (for Skye) very good value.

One of the beds is under the eaves so need to be careful when getting out of bed to avoid banging head. Road pst Three Chimneys has some serious potholes!

The property has exceptional views, was clean and was well equipped. I liked the fact it was quite small, which made it feel cozy and easy to manage.

My son didn’t like the smallness, for example the beds. lie under a slopping roof which meant your head was mere inches away when lying in bed. He chose to sleep on the couch in the room below, which he found more comfortable. The local roads were challenging on your car’s suspension particularly when arriving in the dark.

What amazingly quiet bothy house. Small. But amazing views. All you need.

This little cottage is in an excellent location with a view which I do not believe can be surpassed anywhere in the UK. The facilities are again excellent with fantastic & innovative use being made of a small space.

Simply not applicable! Everything one would expect from a high standard holiday cottage and much more!

Die Lage war sehr abgeschieden, aber uns hat es deshalb auch sehr gut gefallen, besonders der grandiose Ausblick war super. Das Haus war sehr gemütlich, das Bad hätte etwas sauberer sein können. Wir würden hier wieder hinkommen wollen. Die Anfahrtsbeschreibung war etwas irritierend. Man muss einfach die nächste Straße nach dem Restaurant links reinfahren und dann ist es das zweitletzte Haus am Ende der schmalen Straße.

Une situation géographique de rêve, un petit chalet qui porte bien son nom "birdsong Bothy": vue face à l'océan, très calme, le chant des oiseaux vous berce, les lapins viennent vous rendre visite à deux pas de la baie vitrée. Le chalet est excellement bien équipé. Nous avons passé trois heures (en faisant un apéro dinatoire) à regarder émerveillés ce fabuleux panorama. Janice et Angus sont très disponibles et leurs explications sont de qualité.

Le seul bémol : des lits séparés, quel dommage.

Very clean, well equipped property in a great location with lovely views

We were refused a key to open the patio doors (on health & safety grounds) so had to sit behind the glass doors and peer out. There was a bench outside but that didn’t really compensate. We knew the bedroom space was small - but felt it could have been better configured if a double bed was used rather than 2 singles.

Immaculately clean contemporary interior with high end fixtures and fittings, i.e. air-source heat pump, Dyson fan, induction hob. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds with good quality linen. The panoramic views from the property were stunning, whether sitting out on the bench or through the large windows. Easy parking directly by the front door for ease of loading and unloading the car. It’s not called Birdsong Bothy without good reason and we can now identify several new species. The shop at Glendale was a revelation. Hard to imagine anything that they don’t stock and much better to support a local independent enterprise than Asda or Co-op in Broadford.

Absolutely nothing to dislike!

We loved the location. The property was extremely clean and well-maintained.

Our only complaint was the very unwelcoming elderly man who lived at the end of the drive. Who would walk by the sliding window and snarl. It is quite obvious. He does not like where this Airbnb is located.

De ligging is top en het huisje is klein maar wel erg leuk en netjes. Omgeving ook prachtig.

Eigelijk alleen dat het wel erg duur is en onevenredig veel kosten voor schoonmaak moet betalen terwijl je zelf het bed ook nog moet afhalen. Geldt ook voor handdoeken die je in een zak moet stoppen en dergelijke. Niet erg, maar om dan 50 euro schoonmaakkosten voor diep paar vierkante meter te moeten betalen is wel erg overdreven. Het huisje is ook al fors aan de prijs namelijk.

It is a lovely unique peaceful property with great views. There is a nice bench outside to sit and stare at the lake. Handy for The Three Chimneys across the field. Totally peaceful with no one near.

The bedroom was in the roof space. Very cramped with 2 single beds. I hit my head on the sloped ceiling a few times. Not enough storage for clothes.

Im Selbstversorger-Häuschen war auf wenig Fläche alles sehr praktisch angeordnet. Die Aussicht ist wunderschön. Die Lage ist ideal, wenn man die Ruhe genießen möchte. Eine gut besuchte Gaststätte ist trotzdem in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen. Unbedingt vorher einen Tisch reservieren!

Leider war die Terrasse nicht zu benutzen. Wir haben die Tür jedenfalls nicht aufbekommen. Große Menschen haben mit den Betten, die oben direkt in der Dachschräge stehen evtl. Probleme. Der Schriftverkehr im Zusammenhang mit der Buchung, Anreise und Abreise war wahnsinnig umfangreich. Viele Regeln und Anweisungen, ohne persönlichen Kontakt - das war für uns ungewohnt. Aber wir haben es ohne telefonische Rückfragen hinbekommen. ;-)

Nettes kleines Häuschen mit voll eingerichteter Küchenzeile und tollem Ausblick. So lässt sich auch mal ein Regentag gut überbrücken.

Spectacular location overlooking the loch. walk-in distance to 3 Chimneys Restaurant (highly recommend). Bedroom separated from the living space which was a plus. Cute decor!

Idyllic location. Views from Birdsong Bothy were exceptional. Very nice layout. Modern conveniences. Comfortable seating for relaxing and taking in views. Nice, well equipped kitchen. Great bathroom and shower. Efficient layout makes the most of this cozy space. Loved returning here at the end of a day exploring on Skye.

Nothing, if anything it was nicer and newer than expected.

Gorgeous little bothy in an idyllic location. Views out of this world. When we weren't out and about we just sat and looked out at the ever-changing view and wildlife. We love this area of Skye and always treat ourselves to dinner at the Three Chimneys when we visit - this is a 5 minute walk down through a field (a bit boggy in November and not recommended in the dark but less than 15 minutes around by the road which is very quiet or a three minute drive. The bothy is well-equipped - no dishwasher but not an issue for us for a couple of days. As others have said the upstairs is tiny but cosy and the bathroom is downstairs but we had no issue with that. Do bring things like tea, coffee, shampoo etc with you as there is nothing left for guests in the bothy and the nearest shop is a few miles away!

The only thing I'd say is that it felt a bit over-furnished for the space. We didn't sit on the sofa at all and I can't imagine the table (folded) and chairs (stacked) get much use as there is a nice dining area for two at the kitchen counter. I'd sooner have had a chest of drawers to put our things away but that's only a detail especially for a couple of days.

Fantastisch uitzicht vanuit het huisje, heerlijk warm door vloerverwarming, keuken compleet met apparatuur en keukengerei. Handige functiestickers bij alle licht-/electriciteitsknoppen, informatie en kaart omgeving aanwezig, schoon, gezellig, prima bedden. Vooraf goede instructies hoe het huisje te vinden in dit afgelegen gebied, heerlijk rustig en snelle wifi.

In de informatiemap zat de oude wificode, de nieuwe stond op de router. Fijn als dit zou kunnen worden aangepast. Bovenverdieping wat krap door schuine wanden beide zijden, een dakkapel (i.p.v. dakramen) zou het stoten van hoofden kunnen verminderen.

Beautiful setting, view. Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Attention to detail in regards to design. very cosy.

Bothy is a bit remote from the Peninsula but very close to Dunvegan castle. sleeping area is tight. Had to be careful with slanted roof, especially on one side of the room. we are very tall people. Communication with Angus was a bit slow as he was traveling.

La casa es troba en un indret tranquil de l'illa. Les vistes des de les finestres són inmillorables. La casa és comfortable i les explicacions d'Angus el propietari són clares junt amb totes les recomanacions a tenir en compte.

Sehr ruhige Lage. Toller Ausblick auf das Loch - wir haben sogar von der breiten Fensterfront im WZ Delphine gesehen - das Fernglas liegt passend bereit. Mit dem bereitstehenden Vogelfutter kann die Station aufgefüllt werden und es gibt dann einen regen Betrieb. Auch Schafe lassen sich immer wieder blicken. Einmalig! Neist Lighthouse liegt nicht weit entfernt, Fairy Pools auch sehr empfehlenswert.

Der Schlafbereich im Dachgeschoss ist recht klein und im Schlaf stößt man schon mal gegen diverse Ecken und Kanten. Und Vorsicht mit den Midges.

This place is just as charming as I dreamed! Once you get used to driving on the single track roads nearby, it’s simply a joy. My sister and I loved looking out at the water and watching sheep and rabbits from the comfy chairs by the windows.

The small space can be tricky if you toss and turn - I whacked my knee on an eave while rolling over. Also, it would have been nice to get more fresh air in there. It can get stuffy. Finally, little thing of only one roll of toilet paper provided for 3 nights. But a stop at the adorable general store in Glendale remedied that.

Fantastische Aussicht. Sehr gut ausgestattet. Bequeme und gemütliche Einrichtung. Schöne Küchenzeile mit Mikrowelle. Supertolle Dusche! Alles sehr gut durchdacht. Fussbodenheizung, sogar im Bad, macht es an kühlen und windigen Tagen ausgesprochen kuschelig. Das WLAN hat bei uns einwandfrei funktioniert. Empfehlenswert.

Die zwei Betten im OG sind bequem und gross genug. Eine der Matratzen hat eine leichte Schieflage, durch drehen konnten wir es etwas ausgleichen. Der Platz unter den Schrägen ist tatsächlich sehr knapp, aber nicht anders lösbar. Hatte es mir nicht ganz so knapp vorgestellt. Für sehr grosse Menschen nicht so gut geeignet.

Das Bothy ist sehr gut und modern ausgestattet. Auf kleiner Fläche ist alles da, was man für einen Urlaub zu zweit braucht. Der Blick aus dem Panoramafenster ist traumhaft. Gerade ist eine Terrasse im Entstehen, deren Geländer hoffentlich diesen wunderbaren Ausblick dann nicht einschränken wird.

Toll ausgestattes Ferienhaus. Alles vorhanden was man braucht. Parkplatz vor Ort An und Abreise völlig unkompliziert und alles per Mail geklärt. Sehr ruhig gelegen. Kommt kaum ein Fahrzeug vorbei. Hin und wieder hört man die Schafe. Guter Meerblick.

Die Betten sind schon sehr schmal, was durch die Schräge in Dachgeschoss verstärkt wird.

The view was out of this world!!! beautifully renovated to extremely high standard. Absolutely everything we needed. Facilities were fantastic. Very homely, warm and inviting. Loved feeding the birds and watching them at the feeder along with the sheep and bunnies. We even saw dolphins through the provided binoculars playing by the islands. Angus was great with providing information and all the essentials we needed were provided. We loved this place and I felt sad to leave, wished I’d booked for the whole week and not just the 2 nights. There’s so much to do locally and I only scratched the surface. We visited Dunvegan Castle, Coral beach and the Fairy Pools. Everything was so perfect and I miss being there and feeling so relaxed and enjoying the birds and the views and the amazing accommodation

Facilities are great and although the bothy is small the layout makes good use of the space. shower is lovely and views out of the main window is stunning. Is very close to the three chimneys restaurant which was amazing.

Bedroom is definitely cosy! Beds are under the sides of the sloping roof so take this into account when booking if this wouldn’t suit you as I wary of banging my head if I rolled over in my sleep!

I liked the location and the house in general , it was very clean and nicely decorated

there was no Internet working despite wifi being advertised and my work phone had no reception. Nothing could have been done about Internet working otherwise probably we would have stayed. As I have my own online company that was an issue for me as I was unable to work and had to leave the property earlier. So my advice - book only if you go to relax and you are not bothered about reception or use of Internet or any interaction with hosts. Sadly I had to work too, hence that place didn't work for me on this occasion. What was really annoying - I was promised a refund for one night I did not use by Angus, however, to this date (nearly 2 months following our stay) I have not received a refund, no reply to my messages and booking.com advised me the owner of property has no recollection of our conversation, which was rather disappointing providing I have got screenshots of our conversation where he mentioned please rest assured it is coming :)

Beautiful location, stunning view. The Bothy has been finished and furnished to a high standard, good kitchen, great shower. It had everything we needed and is really comfy and cosy. If there wasn’t so much so do and see on Skye we’d have happily sat in the lovely armchairs watching the water and the seals. Angus was great with information and communication.

There really isn’t anything; perhaps just to say the upstairs bedroom is very compact with one bed under the sloping roof which is a bit restrictive but you do get a great view of the night sky from the velux window.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Bird Song Bothy and didn’t want to leave. The view was out of this world, and we enjoyed sitting watching the landscape change from morning to night. The Bothy was well equipped and very clean, and finished to a really high standard. We had a booking in the Three Chimneys which was a 5 minute walk across a field - amazing experience all around!

A lot of thought has gone into this little property. Well finished to a high standard and very clean, looks new. The upstairs area is very small but it works for 2 sleeping, there is no door at the top of the stairs so not suitable if you are not steady on your feet. The two comfy chairs are just the thing for enjoying the view with a glass of something nice.

Could have been cleaner. A balconette could have been implace to make use of the patio doors. The main door didn't lock. Buding materials still out side. A few wee things here and there could be improved on.

Absolutely stunning! Had the most amazing stay. The views, the comfort of the bothy, the birds outside. We were lucky with the weather, so the walk from Colbost to Neist Point was unforgettable.

We booked because of the photo of the view from the front window. The reality was even more stunning. In fact, photos do not do full justice to the inside of the bothy either, particularly the living area and shower room. We enjoyed 5 nights and were sad to leave this beautiful area. 4 nights we ate in as it was so relaxing. For our last night we were fortunate to have booked the Three Chimneys restaurant, just a few minutes walk away (book at least a month or two in advance, as it is justifiably popular).

Easy to get to with instructions, very close to the Three a chimney and fantastic sea views! Shower was great after a whole day of exploring Skye! Kitchen well equipped, would recommend to all our friends and family. Beds were comfortable and Velux windows meant great views of the stars on a cloudless night! Generous checkout time of 12pm means we could take it easy in the morning before leaving.
