Cosy wood cabin in rural area near national park

2 guests · 1 bedroom · 1 bed · 1 bathroom

Welcome to our beautiful cabin set in the heart of the ayreshire countryside.. We hope you enjoy your stay! We have personally thought through all of the amenities and hope to provide you with all the comforts of home. The surrounding area has so many things to offer being on the edge of a National forest park with beautiful mountain ranges and only 30 mins drive to the coast with access to Royal Troon Golf course and many seaside towns it is sure to make your holiday one of a kind. As a self-catering cabin, you'll find everything you need for a perfect stay. The kitchen has a fridge with small freezer, a hob, an oven, a kettle, coffee maker, and is fully equipped with cooking utensils. It also has a microwave and toasties maker. Boasting stunning views and a lovely decking area to enjoy the wildlife it is a peaceful place. There is a TV and Internet access plus a selection of dvds and books to also help you relax. The cabin is a perfect place to retreat to . There is one double bedroom and a seperate dressing room. There is one bathroom, which has a toilet and sink and a walk-in shower. Linen and towels are all included to make your stay more enjoyable. House Rules: - Check-in time is 3pm and check-out is 10am. Disappointed stay!

Rural location.

So disappointed with our stay after reading previous reviews. The cabin is in a great location with fabulous views, but that’s about it. The cabin was dark and dirty. The oven had not been cleaned as there was still chips in the pan from previous guests! The bathroom was dirty, hairs and dust on the floor and the shower was not very hot. Cobwebs in the corner of the window, lights and ceiling. Definitely not worth the cost. Such a shame, as with a bit of money spending on it, it could be perfect!

Wonderful rural location

It is a beautiful rural location with plenty of outdoor sitting space. The sitting room has windows all round so if there is any sunshine, it steams through the windows.

There is no getting away from the fact, the cabin is "cosy". The kitchen has limited preparation space and the double bed is squeezed into the bedroom with little room to slide down either side. Whilst I can understand being asked to leave used towels in a basket, I was somewhat disconcerted to be requested to strip the bed as well. Perhaps this is a left-over from the post covid arrangements. Tricky location - the map shown on the booking.com printout is very misleading.

Beautiful, peaceful and an absolute gem of a get away

This really feels like home from the moment you arrive. It's so peaceful and beautiful, ideal for a chilled night in front of the fire whilst watching the stars through the patio doors, the views are incredible and the host is wonderful, so helpful and welcoming, providing us with local information from where to find food to the best walks in the local area. The decor in the cabin itself is just stunning and really feels like a wee Scottish hoose!then of course with chickens and cows as neighbors you don't have to go far to see the wild life!

That we didn't book for longer! We will certainly be back soon

Stayed 2 nights for a weekend getaway and couldn't have asked for more. Main house is close by but cabin itself is completely private with its own driveway and deck facing out into uninterrupted countryside. Nearby Tesco (5 minute drive) for food and plenty of pots/pans/utensils for cooking. We spent our Saturday going to Boswells Coach House for lunch (recommend) and walking up to the ruins of Auchinleck Castle and down to the Lugar Water gorge, a wonderful walk but steep. Nearby Dumfries House is a must visit too! You'll need a car to enjoy the area, but we could've happily spent 2 days in the cosy Big Bear Cabin itself. Perfect for some peace!

Such a wonderful place and so peaceful. Rachel was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. It was lovely to have the cows and chickens around, they were adorable! Sitting out on the deck with such a stunning view was exactly what we were looking for. The bed was comfy, living room cosy, kitchen was ideal and the entire place had everything we could need. The bottle of wine and shortbread went down a treat too! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back :)

Room for improvement

Pretty little cabin

This place is considerably overpriced for what it offers. While it's undeniably a nice and clean location, there wasn't even water in the fridge or any snacks available, which is unusual for a stay of this cost. The overall atmosphere left much to be desired. Additionally, it felt like an unnecessary burden to be responsible for tasks like separating the trash and changing the bedsheets and towels. These are basic amenities that should be provided without guests having to worry about them. In conclusion, while the cleanliness and appearance of the place were satisfactory, the pricing and host's approach weren’t great.

This was a really pretty cottage and was very private. The inside was comfortable and it was easy to do meal preparation if you wanted to. The Cottage had its own area within the garden. Comfortable, lovely host, fantastic location and private. We will look to return!

Great peaceful location in a private and cosy wood cabin looking out to lovely distant views. Everything worked as it should and we enjoyed meeting Rachel, the host who handed us keys and talked us through a few things.

A few utensils were not very clean and there was dust behind doors (i.e. bathroom) and in some cupboard areas. The rooms felt a bit cluttered; as much as it is nice to have some personality in a place (opposed to stark/clinical), we felt there were too many ornaments and other items. We loved the place but visually it felt a little crowded.

Every few dozen Airbnb stays you may come across a gem. This is one of them. The cabin is super warm and cosy. The location is perfect. Just remote enough so you can relax but still easy to drive to shops and restaurants while exploring the area. Rachel was very friendly and welcoming. She gave us plenty suggestions of things to do in the area and even a little welcome basket with fresh eggs from her chickens and a nice bottle of wine. We hope to be back very soon!

Bear cabin was, as it said in the description, remote and peaceful, so remote you only get so far with the postcode before you need final directions!! But that's its beauty, tucked away from main roads, traffic and all the hustle and bustle. We arrived slightly late due to the weather conditions but Rachel, the host, was at the cabin to greet us and fill us in on everything and offer her local knowledge for all our needs. The cabin itself was charming and cosy, nice decorative touches throughout and spotlessly clean. It is far enough out the way that you have uninterrupted views over the fields and hills but you are close enough to local shops and places to visit. Again Rachel was on hand to offer plenty of suggestions for places to go regardless of what your looking to do. Considering we booked this so close to our arrival date I think this was a great find and we were lucky to get it. Can't recommend it highly enough.

It was magical, a beautiful cabin in stunning countryside.

The cabin was a beautiful haven, so comfortable and cosy. The hosts had thought of every thing to make it so. The view from the porch was stunning and by night gave a superb view of the stars and moon. Quite magical! Though hard to tear oneself away from the cabin, there is lots to explore and experience in the surrounding countryside in Ayrshire and also nearby Dumfriesshire. Wish I could have stayed longer!

There was nothing, it was a lovely place, location and stay.
