Convieniently located for Port Ellen and nearby beaches. The lights and heaters were on when we arrived, which we very much appreciated. The kitchen is well equipped with stainless steel pans and all that was needed. A good sized table to sit and eat at. Comfy sitting room. Lovely interior.
The cottage was spacey. Especially the bedrooms and the living room. Almost everything we needed was there. it was close to port Ellen and very close to the airport. And it was in a quiet area.
The bathroom, and especially the shower part was really dirty. There was hair on the wall and in the sink. It really needs a good cleaning. One of the kitchen cupboard (the door) was broken and almost fell off. (the small one on the right). A suggestion would be to remove the door and make it the cuttery cupboard. It's now, almost on the floor in one of the lower cupboards which is not so hygienic. One of the bigger casserole has only one handle so, very difficult to use. A smaller one was dirty, so we didn't use it. And we missed a pair of scissors which would be very handy. Maybe it was there but we couldn't find it. The lower cupboards were a bit chaos. In summary: The cottage was oké but really, really needs a better cleaning.

Really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is in a fantastic location, within walking distance of Port Ellen and close to Singing Sands. Easy to find, communication was very good with the host. The beds were very comfy. All in all a very good experience.
Sehr netter und hilfsbereiter Vermieter. Die Unterkunft ist nur einige Gehminuten vom Zentrum von Port Ellen entfernt. Das Ferienhaus war mit Allem nötigen Küchenutensilien ausgestattet.
Einzige zu erwähnende Herausforderung: das einzige Badezimmer ist ein Verbindungszimmer zwischen zwei Schlafzimmern und dem rest des Hauses - hat für uns aber kein Problem dargestellt.

It’s a very old building as many private homes in the country are, but that’s part of the charm! Well up to date, interior is clean and comfortable. Some may have found the bathroom location not ideal, but I was there with my 3 boys, youngest 39, and found it fine. There’s a door on each side so it’s certainly private enough. Depending on whom you’ll be with you may want to take it into consideration before making a decision. I highly recommend this place, especially if you plan on walking the whiskey trail!
The location is well situated to explore the Island. The design is a little quirky ie long and thin, it is comfortable and well equipped.
Struggled to find the cottage. Note the name on the gate is Upper Imerdval Cottage. Best to use the gps coordinates.
It's definitely quirky, and may not work for everyone. But it certainly worked for us. The location is great, it's just off the main road and you can come and go safely because of the location. It's a ten minute walk to a pub in Port Ellen, and is a six minute drive, at most, to the ferry terminal. It's a great homebase for a whisky tour.

The directions were a bit confusing, perhaps a map sent with the instructions would work better.
The cottage was perfect, nice and clean, and it was great to stay in an typical cottage on Islay. There was plenty of space with multiple bedrooms and relaxing large lounge. Really enjoyed our time in Islay and this cottage fitted right in. Jeremy

It was easier to find than I expected and was ready slightly early for us if we wanted. Everything we needed was found nearby in Port Ellen or Bowmore. Plenty of whisky distilleries. We had a great stay Thanks

The location was excellent. Very clean. Very helpful..
No tumble dryer for drying clothes. Fan in the bathroom did not work. Or no clear instructions how to use it.
Overall, the cottage was a win. We booked it to stay with friends and their family and while we all had to share the one bathroom, once we figured out who was sleeping where, it was fine. The cottage is close to Port Ellen, though we did drive into town it is walkable. We also walked to the singing sand beach and square lighthouse. The host was super helpful, communicated via email and WhatsApp, and they even responded to inquiries/messages after we checked out.
The towels were a little small and for being a self-catering cottage, some of the kitchen utensils (stove trays, knives) could be in better condition. But overall, the cottage is comfortable and in a very convenient location.
Great place if you like to stay immersed in the nature.peaceful and you can feel immediately at home. I really recommend it
bit overpriced for what it is. layout is bizarre. the toilet is basically in the hall way. if sleeping in the end room you have to go through the other bedroom and the bathroom to access the kitchen

We absolutely loved our stay here for the Feis Ile! Short walk from Port Ellen and the stunning Kinaughton Bay. Home was clean, spacious and cosy. Was lovely having the sheep so close by too. Would highly recommend for both couples and larger groups. Host was very helpful and check in and check out was super easy.

Everything was as described - very helpful and responsive host. Really nice and cosy living / dining space. Kitchen was very clean and fully stocked. Bedrooms very comfortable and warm. Bathroom was clean and everything worked well. Host was very friendly and responsive to many questions! Location very good for Port Ellen and the west of the island - good amenities close and easy to get to beaches or short drive to Bowmore.

We had a great family break in Port Ellen. The whole family loved Islay and the cottage is in a great location to walk into Port Ellen and visit the distilleries near by. The cottage is quirky and charming and we were very comfortable there.
Die Unterkunft war nicht sauber, das Betttuch hatte schwarze Flecken. Das Blech im Backofen war voller Fett und nicht gespült. Die Töpfe waren trotz Schrubben nicht mehr sauber zu kriegen. Die Esstischstühle waren voller ekliger Flecken. Der elektrische Kamin funktionierte nicht. Die Decke im Badezimmer blättert ab und das Fenster kann nicht richtig geschlossen werden. Das Badezimmer ist ein Durchgangszimmer, das ist völlig unmöglich. Die Wohnung ist total überteuert.
Very traditional sort of cottage, with extensions for the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms. It certainly is a quirky layout, but also quite quaint. Bottom line is that it works and suited us three blokes on our whisky excursion. The kitchen is well appointed and clean and includes a washing machine, etc. It is a short/medium walk into Port Ellen; probably about 20 minutes, past the re-opened Port Ellen Distillery and Rum distillery.
Having to go through bedroom 2 to get to bedroom 3 is a little unusual, but I know it is a European thing and doesn't cause too much of a problem. Having to go through the bathroom to reach the back bedrooms is also a bit odd, but it's not a problem with children or adults who communicate, so they don't get stuck in the back bedrooms while someone is in the shower. It is advertised as Quaint and Quirky, so expect some quaintness and quirkiness.
Great location, a 10 minute walk away from Port Ellen and a really good size (easily fitting up to around 6 people - although we only had 3). Kitchen was well equipped, lots of heaters dotted around to keep the place warm and overall we felt that it was good value for money. Would definitely stay again next time visiting the island
Inside is starting to get a bit worn in places, some of the light bulbs hadn't been tested before we came so at least one of the rooms didn't have a lamp that we could use. Just needs a little tlc in places to get it up to the 10/10 mark
Very helpful owners, very spacious property in a lovely location.
The house was nice but a very awkward layout that should be made much clearer. Would be fine for a family but having to walk through the bathroom to get to the bedroom and through that bedroom to get to the other bedroom did not work for colleagues sharing the place. Also hard to find mainly because the pinned location was wrong when clicking link from airbnb.

Great venue for larger family. About 20 min walk from city center. Peaceful setting.
Quiet location.
Shared bathroom is in the middle of house used as a corridor leading to other two bedrooms. No facility to vent the bathroom. No freezer. No wardrobe. Very little space or in some rooms no space for our own clothes. Bugs visiting property during the night. Broken bench outside, unusable. No facility to sit in otherwise nice and freshly cut grass garden. Bush overreaching the entrance gate, needs a good trim.

The self-catering cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was very central for everything that we wanted to see and do on Islay. The quirky layout of the property was not a problem.
If I was being "picky", a back garden and off-road parking would have been beneficial.

The Airbnb was well located and the host responded quickly, however the Airbnb was more basic than the average Airbnb. No basic necessities were provided (toilet paper, dish soap) and there was an expectation to drive your recyclables to town but no directions to where. The layout wasn’t clear in the photos but two of the rooms were connected to the rest of the house through the bathroom. Overall still enjoyed our stay.
Accommodatie was perfect voor 6 vrienden die naar Islay komen voor de whisky. Rustige ligging, vlak bij 'centrum' van Port Ellen (café, afhaal eten, winkel) en binnen 30 min bij de verschillende distilleerderijen.

The configuration of the cottage is very odd: the only bathroom was located between the kitchen and 2 of the bedrooms. So if someone is using the bathroom you cannot get to the bedrooms. Mattresses were very old... one could feel the springs. a mattress topper would improve the situation. Better outdoor furniture would be appreciated. One of the picnic tables was broken. Thanks

Sehr groß und in ruhiger ländlicher Umgebung! Wir waren 5 Personen. Alles da was man braucht. In der Früh wird man schon von den benachbarten Schafen begrüßt! Port Ellen erreicht man nach nicht einmal 10 Gehminuten! Grüße an die Nachmieter: Wir haben leider unser Bier im Kühlschrank vergessen! Prost!!!
Die Aufteilung der Räume ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Um in die Hinteren beiden Schlafzimmer zu gelangen muss man das Bad/Toilette passieren. Im Grunde aber auch kein Problem!

Leider für 5 Personen, ist die Lage des Bades schlecht. Man muss durch das Bad um in die beiden hinteren Zimmer zu kommen. Aber auch das einzige Manko.
The furnishings were comfortable and the beds were good
There was rubbish piled in one corner of the garden. The picnic tables were both rotten. The outside clothes carousel was broken and held up with a kitchen knife. Inside one settee had two broken castors and was held up by books, it was unusable. However the worst thing was the misrepresentation of the inside layout. The bathroom was a in a corridor running between the kitchen and bedrooms 2 and 3. To access bedroom 3 you had to go through bedroom 2. This only bathroom had a door at each end and once someone was in there it blocked access to bedrooms 2 and 3. very embarrassing and difficult for two families to use. Really really disappointing and certainly not worth the £2200 paid.
Very confusing having to deal with a different host and owner, which led to a communication fail. No response from TravelNest (the host) to our many and repeated requests for help when help was needed - until after the issue was resolved.

Die Lage ist perfekt. Port ellen ist 5 Gehminuten entfernt. Und zu ardbeg, lagavulin und Laphraoig sind es 60 Gehminuten. Im Ort gibt es einen Supermarkt, mehrere Pubs und einen ebike Verleih. Das Haus ist sehr gemütlich und hat 5 Betten. Sehr zu empfehlen
Die Toilette ist direkt an der Küche und mann muss durch diese durchlaufen um ins Schlafzimmer zu gelangen. WLAN ist relativ langsam.

If I had to say something, the shower was a bit hit and miss for pressure and water at the right temperature but it wouldn't stop me staying again
Well-equipped kitchen with everything needed for cooking and cleaning. The property is well situated with a quick drive to Port Ellen and many of the distilleries on Islay.
Communication with the host was sometimes inconvenient as the property listing is managed via TravelNest and if you message the property via the Booking app they request you to send your question to the owner via email instead. That being said, all communication we had with the owner was great and they even allowed us to change our booking on short notice due to last minute changes to our flight.
Nice spot! Only a 2 minute walk into Port Ellen and a great base to walk up to Laphroig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg Distilleries. Great host and provided everything we needed.

Excellent stay here. The owner provided a wonderful welcome pack which was really appreciated after a very long journey. Everything you needed was provided, a short walk to Port Ellen, lovely clean and peaceful. Would definitely recommend.

Good garden and very quiet.
The host uses a separate hosting company and they were next to useless at communicating.
This was a good location and nice and clean but was challenging for 5 or 6 people due to single toilet that is the only corridor from the kitchen/living room to the bedrooms which becomes really tough in morning rushes to get ready. We all felt it was poor value given the living conditions
