Authentic country cottage with fantastic scenery

Absolutely stunning scenery Lots of recipe books , books of the local area and board games Lovely en-suite with shower

We couldn’t get the tv to work as you had to bring your own plug in for Channels as it’s no central heat and log fires make sure to pack warm layers we went in January so was cold the beds are lovely heavy duvets but bring fire wood for the lounge and kitchen or cash to buy on site - these being said we had a really lovely time and didn’t miss the tv

They should give people some clarification nefore

The location was nice

I was surprised that the heating system was controlled by them in this cold weather in Wales and thus time of the year we were having the heating on every 5 hours only fir 1 hour. When I asked them the said because there is two fire chimneys in the house use it and would be enough. Thankfully I had some wood with me for the first night and the next day we bought more which cost us more money. When we booked this accommodation there was clarification about the heating system. Many people may go there without any preparation for fire place and it would be so difficult. It was so cold there even with two chimneys because the first floor was so cold and it was hard to sleep. The house was not clean or tidy at all .

Great for animal loving children

We had a great time with our grandchildren here. It was a real adventure for them. They loved feeding the goats and seeing all the animals

The approach road is not for the faint hearted, but with it when you get there. The views of Conwy valley are stunning

Great location, fantastic animals and amazing staff - highly recommended.

Beautiful location. Really nicely furnished with a well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable beds. The staff and volunteers are amazing and take great pride in making sure that the animals are properly cared for. Louisa and Zoe went out of their way to involve us despite being incredibly busy and they were both so knowledgeable about the animals. The animals are fantastic and provide such good entertainment and memories.

Because the central heating is controlled by the sanctuary manager it was never on, despite it only being 12 degrees which is way below a comfortable temperature. Accessing the property can be a challenge due to the single track roads and one parking space is not ideal for a property for six. Be advised to take wellingtons and waterproof trousers or overalls if you want to get the most out of meeting the animals - it can get very muddy!

IDLEWILD

Beautiful cottage and location.

On several occasions couldn't get in or out as access blocked by staff/visitors parking at the gate entrance/exit. A couple of the staff grumpy and unfriendly. We took our two year old border collie believing we would have acres to walk him in but it was all land for the sanctuary animals. We are both pensioners and like to relax and watch TV but no WiFi connection.

A very relaxing time in a beautiful location.

Lovely cottage in a great location near Conwy and surrounding areas. In addition to the beaches, walks and the beautiful Conwy valley, it’s also near plenty of golf courses which was greatly appreciated by my adult sons. In addition, It was nice to see such a great sanctuary for animals with a huge range of health problems, ranging from a blind sheep to orphaned birds. Even though the staff of the animal sanctuary were understandably very busy, they were very friendly and helpful.

A different kind of getaway; adorable animals, great staff, cozy property, convenient location

The showaround I booked at our check-in time was very useful and the member of staff who showed us round also helped us with getting the key to the property as I was unable to find the code for the lock box. Great that during the stay we were able to spend as much time as we wanted with the animals and help to feed and take care of them. The cozy property has great views of Conwy River and surrounding countryside. Interesting places are only a short drive away - lots of information leaflets in property to help you. The animals each have their own personalities - a highly recommended stay and not to be missed!

Nothing… but if I have to make a comment, then the TV reception can be a little glitchy depending on the weather but it wasn’t a problem really. No WiFi - so make sure you do all your online research before arriving or have plenty of data, or go off grid!

Wonderful relaxing break

Location was idyllic, beautiful countryside. 10/10 to Ryan and team for the hard work put into caring for all the animals . Loved meeting all the animals and can see they are all loved and cared for . The cottage is lovely and cosy and warm . Our stay consisted of 4 adults and was just perfect.

Not a major issue but no shower in main bathroom just a bath .

We really hope to go again - would love to take members of our wider family.

A really lovely holiday cottage with fantastic views. The cottage was spotless and a lovely mix of traditional and modern. The location on an animal sanctuary was fabulous, we loved getting to know the animals and enjoying their company.

A brilliant stay will definitely go bac

Everyone was so friendly and helpful. It is a really lovely place the accomodation was spotlessly clean very spacious and had two bathrooms.. it has lovely views also..

We loved it all . You need a vehicle to get to the nearest towns as it is quite remote but very peaceful. Your dogs need to be on a lead around the sanctuary.

Gorgeous cottage, unique and special surroundings!

Idlewild is a very special place to stay. The gorgeous cottage includes all mod cons, is clean, comfortable and cozy, in a good location, and boasts a spectacular view of the Snowdonia mountain range beyond. But what really sets Idlewild apart is that it is an animal sanctuary. The friendly, welcoming staff do incredible work rescuing, rehabilitating and caring long term for a menagerie of wild and farmyard animals. It was a joy to spend each morning wandering the site, making friends with all the furred and feathered residents and sitting in the cattery, surround by cuddlesome kitties. Not that this made the stay noisy or disrupted - far from it. The whole week was a quiet, relaxing and private experience. When staff are in they are often busy elsewhere on site. Knowing that the money from the cottage rental goes into caring for the animals, as well as the vegan ethos of the organisation were added bonuses to an already magical stay - as was the vegan welcome basket on arrival! We honestly wish we’d never had to leave.
