the location was so peaceful, cows sheep and horses in the field near us, the views were amazing. dobbin was so cozy and had everything we needed for our stay there the kitchen was well stocked there isn't an oven but we took our air fryer. the shower was lovely and hot and once we figured out the wifi it was perfect,, the log burner was fab and heated everywhere up quickly, the owners were lovely and helpful and gave us privacy to enjoy our time, whilst telling us to ring them if there was anything they could get us, sitting out on the decking area was lovely, lights were hanging round the trees making it magical on the nights. our dog loved it, we were allowed to walk him round the grounds of the manor which was great and he settled in really well. it is compact but we managed really well in the three nights we were there
Dobbin was well kitted out , it was so comfortable and the views were stunning, we loved every minute .
The shower head wouldn't stay still but the shower was lovely and hot .
Very rustic & amazing views. Great little play area if you had children.
Nothing.
Everything
Great location. The horse box was cosy, had everything you could want, a great area around it would be brilliant for kids! The beds are a little snug but still comfy. A lovely man met us to give us a tour and the keys! Max our dog loved his stay. Thank you!
Loved it all. Would say some kind of extraction fan for the shower as it gets very steamy in there and was worried as it’s a lovely bathroom!
The location was good, overlooking a field with sheep and horses. The horse box itself was a novelty stay for us, with a pleasant shabby chic interior design.
For 2 adults and 2 children it's a little cramped, with limited space for any belongings, I personally think this could be set up better for couples, though my kids loved it! The kitchen could be better equipped, there was no pan, chopping board, cheese grater, jug...apart from a basic breakfast it would be best to eat out or order takeaway.
Location is great with spectacular views, lots of outdoor space and the horse box has been very cleverly concerted to make the most of the space. Host very friendly.
For me it felt like a little TLC was required, it felt a little tired and lacking attention to detail.
Everything was so cute and well thought out I was so surprised at how much can be fitted into a horse box to make a very comfortable stay The log burner was incredible and warmed the place up perhaps too much we had to open the windows and doors ha ha The facilities outside were lovely and something for everyone. The dog loved her walks We got a Chinese takeaway delivered easily to site The hosts were great lived on site but left us to our own devices
Nothing it was all lovely The only thing is the rain was loud in roof because of parked under big trees but not really a problem
Amaizing place to stay . Lady who owns this place was amaizing and very helpful. I can recommend it 10000000%!!!
Quaint and cosy little cottage in the outskirts. Very peaceful and serene on an evening and 7 min drive to the local town. Fire was ready to go when we turned up and the hosts were lovely
Can’t say anything bad about this property it’s alexactly as advertised
Great location, super friendly host and great interior of the horsebox
Nothing I didn't enjoy
The views
It was rundown the property
The horse box conversion has been really well designed and offers plenty of indoor and outdoor space to give you options whatever the weather. New bathroom is great. Loved the Beautiful setting and the kids loved all the toys and trampoline!
Not a negative but just worth considering that this was the perfect size accommodation for 2 adults and 2 young kids. I think any more than 2 adults would struggle with the space
Such a unique place surrounded in lovely countryside. Lovely hot water and modern wash/toilet bathroom. Very comfortable stay.
Nothing to dislike.
It was in a very beautiful spot and although one or two things weren't perfect, it all added to the charm
There weren't any working sharp knives for cooking.
It states that it sleeps 4 I wouldn’t say that beds are comfortable but small and difficult to get in. Jill the host was AMAZING The area was beautiful and the views spectacular.
The size of the beds
Excellent welcome from Jill
Beautiful location, friendly hosts who are happy to go the extra mile.
Nothing not to like, all I would say is, if you enjoy caravan and camping style breaks, you' ll love this.
Lovely spot for a country side get away. Fantastice scenery and polite hosts.
The place its a bit run down. Could do with new outside furniture and kitchen utensils (expecially pots and pans). The door to the little terrace was broken so that also need fixing. But with a little maintenance it could be easily restored to its original beauty.
Nice location with rural views and easy access by car to Cockermouth. Pub about 45 mins walk down some quiet lanes. Character
The bed was a bit short and the upper bunk not that easy to access- would be fine for children. Property was a bit tired and the rear garden fencing could have been better for dogs as there was a field with sheep behind.
Views were amazing! Quiet and calm location
Beds were a struggle to share as we are all over 6ft and don’t like enclosed spaces. We made it work with one on the sofa.
Just back from a lovely 2 night stay at Dobbin horse box. When we arrived on Friday evening, we were greeted by the lovely owner Jill, who had set the log burner away, and it was toasty warm and welcoming. They accommodation was lovely and clean and equipped with everything you would need aswell as little personal touches. The bed was so comfy, and the shower was red hot. The views from the decking are beautiful. It was a couple of minutes' drive into cockermouth itself, which we didn't mind. But too far to walk. We found there were limited pubs to eat in at night, which allowed dogs. So is best to prebook. We would certainly recommend this accommodation and will definitely return ourselves
Everything jill was super
Nothing
The area and the location were perfect. Nice and peaceful, with a short drive to the lake for a day out. The kid's area was a bonus for our girls. They enjoyed it and made our stay perfect. It was tranquil and comfortable for a small place like this. The location is ideal if you want to escape to a remote area but not far from everything else. Enjoy BBQ outside or go for a walk. We plan to visit again in the spring or summer.
There were a few things which could do with improvement. There is no oven. A portable oven could save time and make it easy to prepare pizza or chees toasty for kids. The pizza oven outside wasn't ready for use. Also, lovely lights on the terrace could improve the night stay. We saw lights on the trees, but they didn't work, so we couldn't sit outside on the deck for a glass of wine.
How quirky it is and the outdoor space.
It’s not really A I don’t like. We were family of 4 adults and my daughter and her partner slept on the top bunk. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze for a 6 foot tall man up there BUT we all loved it, it was so do much fun, they just made ‘squeeze’ part of the experience.
dobbin was a lovely quirky place to stay in. As a family of 3 we had everything we needed, there was an outside play area with various toys for our 8 year old to play with. the surroundings were beautiful, peaceful and out of the way but only a short car drive to various places. The hosts were really friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough for us. we had a great time and didn't want to leave 🙂
amazing views, great outdoor facilities - fire pit, pizza oven, hammock, kids play area.
unfortunately if your over 5foot 8 the bed is too small!!
De plek
Het bed.
In an amazing part of Cumbria - the views are gorgeous and you can watch the sunrise from the terrace . Easy access to some gorgeous walks with the dog . We throughly enjoyed our weekend and feel so chilled . The hosts are genuinely lovely people who couldn’t do enough ! We looked at a review prior to coming and were a bit apprehensive but obviously some people are just up their own !!!! s as we couldn’t have had a better weekend !
nothing
Beautiful views, lovely owner and a lovely location close to town. Really comfortable beds.
The area was amazing but that was the best part. We cut are holiday short because the beds were horrendous. To call the beds double is not true. If your under 5 foot 5 you would be able to lie straight In them. It was like lying on spring so slept in the couch. On the pictures it looks like your secluded but in fact your basically on the owners driveway. When I spoke to the owner on returning home I got abuse from her. Thankfully Air bnb we’re amazing and resolved the issues we had.
The area around the horsebox was idyllic. Horses, sheep, lambs and cows in the fields. Absolutely gorgeous.
The shower looked like it was going to flood so I took the drain out and there was a clump of hair stuck in it. Just unfortunate I suppose. Kitchen table was unwashed. More suited to 2 adults and 2 kids rather than 4 adults with the bunk bed situation.
Beautiful views, animals, log burner, outdoor space, left to own devices.
Needed a wipe around with anti bac wipes when we arrived, smell from drains.
What a lovely unique experience. From the beginning there was great communication and mind put at rest with questions. The facilities are so handy and made to feel very welcome. Would definitely do it again. Thank you 😊
A really lovely, quiet retreat. I had an amazing time, an opportunity to unplug and just relax. The location is good, only 10mins from Cockermouth to pick up supplies, etc.
I couldn't really fault it for me staying there alone.
Extremely small, no way could fit more than 2 average sized adults, certainly not 5 as in owners description unless Borrowers. Beds only very small, hubbie (5’10) had to sleep sideways. The worlds smallest fridge (no freezer box) did not work AT ALL despite owner’s parent adamant it did.We lost about £15 food and milk, literally 1 day old, all rancid with the heat. Had issues with no reply from the owner to our several emails, phone calls, texts with regards to actual address and ended up having to shouting round farm yards in the general area for help. Finally found the accommodation /owners parents who informed me owner was in Mexico, hence no instructions!!! Was in the property for over 24 hours before word back from owner apologising due to internet in Mexico but surely instructions could have been sent beforehand? Decking in total shade due to trees, nice and cool but beware if wanting to sunbathe. Shower / loo new, spotless and loads of good hot water from new boiler. Good TV.
cute and quirky. excellent location. so peaceful
nothing. everything was perfect
Such a unique place, with so much character, couldn't have asked for more and the surrounding are unbelievable
This was something like no other stay away we have had before it was so quirky . It had more than you would have expected like a full size sofa and tv . We loved the freedom of being able to sit and chill watching over the hills and the horses at. around you.
There was nothing we didn’t like.
The view is absolutely amazing and I loved watching all the animals near by, including the blue tits nesting in the pizza oven. Although small, the bed was surprisingly comfortable and super cosy.
Only thing we found difficult was the small fridge and the bugs but none of these can be helped and all the positives outweigh this so we hope we can stay again one day.
A really great and quirky place to stay. Lovely, clean and comfortable on the inside and stunning outside area and view point. We loved the hammock, pizza oven and fire pit and it all just looked magical when the fairy lights came on in the evening. Lots to do in the area but also just a nice place to sit and chill whilst admiring the views.
location in the farm makes it a different feel.
facilities are basic so prepared for such.
Dobbin is wonderful. Really well designed, we had everything we needed. The bed was so comfy, slept great. Beautiful setting with outdoor furniture and a trampoline. Would love to stay there again.
Lovely hosts, very accommodating ! The place is amazing if you come with a child as there are many outsides toys for them. It is a very relaxing place with a nice clear view. Close to a lot of activities in the Lake District. Since it is a camping car the bed is shorter than a regular bed so if you are on the tall side (6 ft and above ) the bed might be a bit uncomfortable although it is wide so you have room to stretch Otherwise would definitely recommend this place
