The accommodation was self contained single apartment with lounge/kitchen, separate bedroom and bathroom located next to the Inn. Ordered the evening meal of the general menu. The food was tasty as too were the fresh vegetables. The inn itself was busy for a Tuesday evening, most folks ordered an evening meal. Breakfast was a continental type meal available in the apartment
Accommodation was excellent
Felt like a home from home
Comfy and well equipped. Breakfast basket was a nice surprise. Meals in Inn were good. Staff friendly.
Bed a bit small
great location. Everything we needed. All clean and tidy
After a 30 km walk it was an oasis
Amazing food, friendly staff and locals along with lovely room- perfect nights stay

Had a great stay at the Milecastle Inn. We’re were treated at the pub, and shown to our room. We were sled if we wanted a dinner reservation and we did. The room was such a cute comfortable place with all of the amenities. There were snacks waiting for us. There was also cereal and milk in the room for us to have a small breakfast before we departed. We had no issues with WiFi access. As for the pub and restaurant, this may have stole the show. The staff were some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. The drinks were very reasonable, and they had a great selection. Dinner was outstanding, and their Sunday roasts, and pies were to die for. Absolutely stay here if you can, and dine here even if no rooms are available.
Thank you for being so kind, appreciate the awesome hospitality.

Great location for walking Hadrians wall. Lovely meal at the Inn. Accommodation was very clean and comfortable with everything you need for a perfect stay.

Clean, quiet, comfortable. Sunday roast was excellent. Not cheap but really good.
Clean, adequately equipped, breakfast basket with milk was very welcomed. Great location & attached to a lovely pub for drinks/dinner. On the Hadrian’s wall bus route too. Very helpful staff let us borrow a charger plug as we’d forgotten ours.
Bath plug didn’t fit properly so unable to rake a bath, but the shower was brilliant.
Comfortable chairs to watch the Euro final.
Close to the road, but not overly noisy. Limited crockery etc.
Great location for Hadrian’s Wall. Super helpful and friendly staff. Apartment was well furnished and equipped and we were grateful for the unexpected welcome basket. It was extremely wet outside but we were able to get all our walking kit dried in the apartment .
Very pleasant staff and good facilities
All good
Easy to find. Smallish but perfectly adequate for a couple. Parking at front door, nice pub food at the inn, remarkably quiet.
No negatives, the place was lovely.
No breakfast in restaurant, but good supplies in room. Restaurant evening meals very good. Location perfect. Room very spacious & clean
Nothing to speak of
What a location! The bus stop is right there to all the hiking points on the Wall, the various Roman archaeology museums, and into Haltwhistle for laundry and supplies. The food at the restaurant was delicious... the pub and restaurant were hopping very evening!!
Just be prepared for sleeping closely with your partner :-) Smallest bed we've slept in for decades, but we were so tired from hiking we slept well!!
Lage nahe der Hadrians Wall. Nettes Pub nebenan.
Zu schmales Doppelbett
Ideal stop over for walking the Hadrians Wall path. Easy access to lots of ancient sites. Situated opposite Milecastle 42 on the path .
Nothing
The place was perfect for our visit to Hadrians Wall. Easy to access all of the sites. Lovely setting, and right next to the pub so convenient to walk over and get dinner. Afterwards we took a late evening walk across the street down a quiet country road and watched owls hunting in the fields. Magical! The place was super clean and had everything we needed. Plus it was quiet and peaceful, great for resting and recharging for another day of exploring the sites.
Good location for hadrians wall. Warm, well equipped. Manager Connor was very helpful and kindly delivered soup to room.
Breakfast supplies in the room were sparse - cereal, milk, crips, cereal bar.
It was very convenient for the Pennine Way, and we could book an evening meal in the Inn.
Nothing !
Clean, comfortable and close to the amenities and locations we wanted to use/visit.
Not really anything.
Comfortable and well furnished, very comfortable bed, kitchen had everything we needed to prepare a quick meal and included cereals, milk, ground coffee etc. for breakfast. Good WiFi. Perfectly located for visiting the forts etc on Hadrians wall part of which is visible from the property and about 10 mins walk. The Milecastle Inn next door was very welcoming with excellent food and very friendly staff. We would highly recommend both the accommodation and the Pub.
Nothing
Location was beautiful, accommodation really cozy and more space than I expected. Liked the little snack basket. The bar staff were all very friendly and the food lovely.
It would be nice to have more options for breakfasts or information provided as to what is in the area. Bed and floor was a little creaky so was worried I would disturb the neighbours through the night as the walls (particularly the bathroom) not overly sound proof.
The selfcatering cottage was very comfortable and well equipped, and the owner had left a bottle of milk in the fridge and supplied coffee and tea (ground coffee, too) biscuits and some breakfast cereals to tide over. Very good hearty meals in the inn, and a view over to the milecastle to tempt you to explore the wall.
Nothing
Location to Hadrians Wall close by.
Cottage was in need of full refurbishment very dark and drab. Kitchen smoke detecter blocked which was a fire hazard. Ancient electric hob with no useage instructions and dangerous faded dials which resulted in third degree finger burn. Even the First Aid kit had expired 3 years earlier! Kitchen window closely overlooks Pubs smelly rubbish bins. Bathroom radiator temperature control broken and leaking rusty water. Without malice would not recommend this accommodation as felt had an overpriced disappointing stay.
The property is within sight of Hadrian's Wall which means it is excellent for walking not only on the wall but in the surrounding area. The premises are very well appointed with cooking etc available although the menu at the adjacent pub is so good that cooking is not necessary apart from the odd cup of tea etc.

A perfect location to visit Hadrian’s Wall.
Stayed booked as part of a visit to Kielder Obervatory. Very nice clean and tidy with great food at the pub.
We loved how cozy and warm our accommodation was - we especially loved the sitting area which looked out to Hadrian’s Wall. The food at the pub was absolutely amazing and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Fabulous, well appointed accommodation, spotlessly clean. Fantastic location for access to Hadrian's Wall, museums and Roman forts.
1) as a Roman history buff , the location of the property is amazing . There is no where closer to Hadrians wall . It’s basically across the field from milecastle 41 . 2) the pub next door . They serve great food and it has a lovely atmosphere. Great variety of both locals and tourists. 3) the rooms are really comfortable and warm. Lots of nice extras including having the kitchen and a few extras like milk and shortbread .
Nothing at all.
Amazing stay in the little flat, it was perfect for a hike along Hadrians wall then attached to the inn which served delicious pub grub. The accommodation was spotless and it was so quiet. The staff in the inn were very friendly too, would definitely recommend a stay.
Gorgeous spot, helpful staff and a really private, self-contained spot.
I loved everything, great place
I didn't find fault with anything.
Cottage was lovely, food fantastic and friendly staff
The property is a spacious cottage next door to a popular pub. I was only staying one night, but it was well equipped and would suit longer stays. I appreciated the cereal, tea & coffee and snacks that had been left, along with milk in the fridge. A short walk down a lane over the road takes you to a section of Hadrians Wall to explore, and other popular parts of the wall are a couple of miles in either direction. The road isn't too busy, so it was quiet at night.
Not really a comment on the property, but the pub next door was very busy- I'd reserved a table, but even then the service was rather slow. I may have just hit a bad day, and the food was fine when it arrived in any case!
Good for Hadrian Wall travelers. We liked the pub next door and the size of our space. We do wish bath amenities would have been provided in our stay. Overall good night!
Great apartment. Nice touches - like the milk and cereal in the room. Great dinner in the pub. Staff were all friendly.
Great apartment with everything including welcome hamper. The pub attached has great food as-well, and the location to haddrians wall
It was quiet and very comfortable. It was near Hadrian's Wall. The food at the Inn was great.
fantastic location right on the wall - loads of wonderful walks. The staff were so kind and really took good care of us. The cottage was much bigger than expected. We stayed 2 weeks and it was just brilliant - will definitely be going back.
Not much! A little annoying looking over the bins from the kitchen window. And unfortunately there was a large portaloo cabin in the front as they were refurbishing the loos. It was a bit stinky from time to time. There was also a noisy generator or something outside the bedroom window going all night off and on Would have loved a garden for the dogs - oh and they aren’t allowed in the pub! But honestly the good outweighted the bad.
Lekker ruim en goed uitgerust.
Erg donker, geen uitzicht.
Your own private front door, plenty of space, dog friendly, everything you need and very welcoming.
Location good. Host helpful
Very poor TV connection and Wifi
place just next to Hadrian Wall path, so very convenient.
Close to Hadrian's Wall and pub!
Nothing. Had everything we needed.
Geweldige ligging bij Hadrians wall. Verrassend ruime cottage. Gezellige pub vlak ernaast. Aanrader, want het eten is erg goed en de sfeer top.
Voor lange mensen is het bed wat aan de korte kant.
Bar restauarant was excellent
Loved staying at the Milecastle Inn. It’s a great place to use as a base if you are walking Hadrian’s Wall -clean, comfortable and relaxing - and be sure to check out the pub while you are there as well!
Being disabled, parking outside the accommodation was ideal. The accommodation was just the right size, contained a small kitchen that we used. The property was clean, in good working order, nicely decorated, had comfortable furniture. A complimentary basket of food and milk in the fridge was a lovely touch. We would recommend this place and have no reservations about booking this place again.
There is nothing about this place that I could say hand on heart that I disliked. If that doesn't make good feedback then so be it.
location, comfort,
staff not very friendly
The location is great, being right next to Hadrian's Wall. I arrived late and was thoroughly accommodated for. The size of the room was a surprise to me as I wasn't expecting a full cottage-type accommodation.
I didn't experience anything negative during my overnight stay.
Almost everything was perfect. The accommodation is attached to a proper pub, the type of which you always hope to find whilst out walking but don’t often get. Staff were really helpful, beer great and a wonderful welcome basket. Only let down was the size of the bed being a little small but only as have a super king size at home.
Nothing to dislike
A wonderful place to stay, the host was friendly, left some snacks which were much appreciated after a days hiking and even found us a spot in the pub for dinner
The location is outstanding if you are there to walk on Hadrian's wall - you can see a milecastle through your window (see pic). It is also very comfortably fitted out.
What a lovely place - well appointed, spacious and adjoining a great pub. We were walking Hadrian's Wall and the location couldn't be better. The owners were very hospitable - even to the extent of offering to drive me back to Haltwhistle to retrieve my car! Highly recommend.
Spectacular location. Spotless accommodation. Food in the pub was lush. Friendly locals. Would definitely stay here again
plenty of space. lovely welcome pack when we arrived food in the pub part was yummy
no - everything was good :)
lovely traditional English pub, with very comfortable accommodation- really lovely. the food in the restaurant is amazing - best sticky date pudding !!! I need to go back to try the crumble !!
nothing really - it was lovely 🥰
Clean
Lacking in comfortable soft furnishings to relax.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Milecastle Inn. We were made to feel very welcome from the time of our arrival. Excellent walking country straight from the front door and fantastic food in the pub. Thank you for letting us stay and I hope we can return in the future. kind regards, Sarah and Alasdair.
The accommodation was excellent. Fantastic place to stay. Hosts were more than helpful. The pub next door served excellent food. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage and will be going back there.
Nothing
How quiet it was, being next to a pub you would of thought you would get some noise, but even though the pub was so busy, you couldn’t hear it from the apartment.
nothing
Really lovely place, the owners were really friendly and there was a basket with tea and snacks when we arrived. The pub is excellent and location was even better than we thought, we are hoping to come back.
Great accommodation. Clean and comfortable. Adjoining the pub which we didn’t use but looked very welcoming with a roaring fire when we called in on our arrival. Everything you could need we really enjoyed our stay
Fabulous cottage attached to pub. Everything you could need for a comfortable stay including a welcome box of ‘goodies’. Pub next door was lovely and food was amazing. We were allowed to take our meals into the cottage as the pub does not allow dogs.
Nothing
No breakfast good location
Nothing
brilliant cottage, great for a short or long stay all the facilities you need. immaculately clean and well presented. Right on the wall walk and having the pub next door is perfect.
spacious, clean, modern, all the facilities you need
This is a great place to stay. Rooms were perfect, the pub and restaurant was wonderful and all the hosts and hostesses were great. The only reason for 4 stars is that the wifi never worked and reception is weak. They tried to get it working!
excellent and the arrival pack was very welcome. Great location for exploring Hadrians Wall
Location was great and the food and welcome in the adjacent inn was brilliant. Accessing Hadrian's wall from the accommodation was an easy few minutes on foot up to the quarry to the north, other locations (Houseteads's etc ) a few minutes by car.
Some Wi FI issues - but to be honest we weren't in the apartment long enough for it to be a big issue
great stop over on the way back home pretty much on hadrians wall. kitchen is fully kitted out with a few extra like ceral and milk. Owner owns the pub next to the apartment which serves great food and drink.
