Great location for walking and checking out the area.

Most recent in a series of times I have stayed at this property which is perfectly located next to Hadrian's Wall. It's a great spot to go walking in either direction along the wall and other numerous local walks, or visit the various local roman sites and digs etc. The adjacent pub is a bonus for excellent food and drink.

Fabulous location with Hadrian's Wall visible from the front room.

The location is amazingly central for Hadrian's wall... walking and seeing the museums. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable with a lovely welcome box on arrival. There was a deep bath - great for walkers. The car can be parked directly outside the front door.

Good position. Great food in the pub.

Having the kitchen facilities was a real bonus and the breakfast box was good. The shower was good too.

The mattress needs replacing and the bedding too. The towels need to be bigger.

Disappointing , expensive with no breakfast you basically need to go elsewhere if you want to eat

Contained

Noisy, no food service, arrived and was shown the room, told the pub was open until 10.30, we wrongly assumed we could arrange and order food, but this was only for pre orders and closed at 8.30 (we should have checked)we arrived at 9pm

Easy to find and in a great location for visiting Hadrian’s Wall and nearby Roman forts and museum. Very comfortable, clean, quiet accommodation and welcoming staff. Dinner in the adjoining historic inn was excellent and well above standard pub grub.

The hosts and place were off the top of the scale but the booking via Travelnest was problematic: no customer service. I would much rather have booked direct with lovely owner or Booking.com

A Great weekend 1

For 2 people it is very spacious. There were many great little touches like milk in fridge and complimentary cereals and chocolate. Beautiful location. Pub next door that served fantastic food. Great friendly staff. Cottage was lovely. Cant wait to go back.

There was nothing i didnt like, there is a noisy unit behind the bedroom which came on and off all the time but once used to it didn't disturb sleep too much.

A very enjoyable and comfortable stay thank you - would highly recommend

The accommodation is very close to the Hadrian Wall path and provided a self contained modern apartment (open plan living space and kitchen with adjoining bedroom) adjacent to the pub with the luxury of a hot bath at the end of a long days walk. The pub itself is highly recommended with a good selection of beers and a hearty meal. Mandy the owner provided tea, coffee milk etc. plus a selection of breakfast cereals and snacks for the next day which was unexpected but much appreciated thank you.

Lovely place in a dark skies area with a short walk to Hadrian’s Wall.

A small cottage, perfectly suitable for us, a retired couple. Very clean with good quality furniture. The Milecastle Inn is a good, friendly pub serving very good food, the sea bass was excellent and lunchtime sandwiches very good! Lovely walking area, with a lovely walk to Haltwhistle on a path through woodland.

Prima om een nachtje te verblijven! Alles was aanwezig!

This place is exactly what you hope to find at the end of the day after a long hike - an authentic old english pub with great food and drinks. The rooms were much bigger and more comfortable than expected and included a kitchen and living area.

Good location and adjoining pub serving great food, welcome box was a nice touch.

Cleanliness could be better and most importantly the shower was warm at best, but not hot at all. This was also a complaint from others staying next door. Very noisy when adjoining room flushed the toilet or ran the water, generator from.the adjoining pub also made it very difficult to sleep.

Learning more about the Romans

I would recommend this to anyone looking to explore/see visible sections of Hadrian's Wall and learn more about the Roman Occupation. The property proved to be a superb base for day trips, with features of the wall including Sycamore Gap, Vindolanda, Roman Army Museum, Housesteads Fort, The Sill and others being just a very short journey time away. The addition of a separate kitchen and seating area next to the bedroom made it an economical and relaxing choice for a retired couple to stay at, when compared to the cost of a hotel. Mile Castle 42 was visible from the seating area in the room and we felt that Northumberland proved to be genuinely encouraging to visitors.

We liked all of it, including our friendly host and the open countryside that surrounds the property.

The stay was relaxing and enjoyable.

It was great that the facilities included both a coffee machine and ground coffee so that we could easily make proper coffee. The welcome basket and milk in the fridge was just what we needed. I loved the rocking armchair.

We had some wifi problems - but understand that is more of a general issue for the area.

Really nice cottage we stayed for 1 night on our way home from a weekend in the lakes. You can see Hadrian’s wall from the living room window it’s that close and it was a lovely little walk out with the dog. The pub next door was really nice and the food was so good! It was a shame that the pub wasn’t dog friendly inside but it’s understandable why as it is quite small especially for our big labrador.

As the advert says, cosy apartment, welcoming and great food.

Perfect hosts, warm and welcoming. I was particularly thankful for their thoughtful, kind gesture to come and meet me as I was walking and still some distance away as it was starting to go dark, and walking along the busy road. Delicious meal in the pub, good home cooked food, traditional options (with a twist), all perfectly cooked. The very comfy bed was welcome and the apartment is as cosy as the advert says I would highly recommend this cosy apartment near Hadrian's Wall. Thank you for a nice stay.
