To the ground floor the holiday home has a bespoke dining kitchen complete with AGA. Off the kitchen is a separate utility and cloakroom, from which you can access the private garden at the rear. A beautiful hall leads to 2 large sitting rooms, both with log-burning stoves. To the first floor is a lovely landing complete with feature arch window and the landing leads to 4 bedrooms: Bedroom 1 and Bedroom 2 are equipped with king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms. Bedroom 3 has a double bed and adjoins the family bathroom, which has a freestanding bath. Bedroom 4 has a day-bed (which can fold out to be a double) and a further double bed. To the front of the holiday cottage is a walled garden and parking is available at the side of the holiday cottage. To the rear of the house is a raised cottage garden, which accommodates an outside table and seating for 8 people. The Gatehouse is located in picturesque Caldbeck, one of the most beautiful and peaceful of all the Lakeland villages. It is within easy reach of Keswick, Bassenthwaite, Penrith, the Northern Fells and the Solway. There are fabulous river and fell walks from the doorstep, as well as The Cumbrian Way. Amenities in Caldbeck include The Odd Fellows public house, a historic church, a tearoom and shops. Great cottage in a great location

Location was fabulous, beautiful village in the countryside. Village had a shop, cafe and a pub plus beautiful walks all around. Cottage was spacious, lovely big rooms, great kitchen with an AGA, beautiful stone floors downstairs, parking.

My only very minor issue was the flies, there were a lot of them which was a bit annoying indoors but as I say a very minor issue. No other problems whatsoever.

Don't miss out on this wonderful spot!

Beautiful stay in a well appointed, comfortable and incredibly spacious home Large dining kitchen with all that we needed at hand. Comfortable beds, large en suite rooms with storage, nice big bath! 2 sitting rooms with a selection of games and books (great for families) Enclosed gardens and lovely walks nearby. Great spot to explore the lakes, Carlisle, Cumbria hills etc. Standard staggering distance from a great pub! And a handy creamery next door for fresh farm provisions. A wonderful and relaxing stay.

Leaving!

A lovely weekend in the lakes

Beautiful house and excellent location in a lovely, well-situated village with charming local amenities. Comfortable rooms with lots of space and character.

Unfortunately a strong smell from the nearby cowsheds but largely bad luck as I think they were being cleaned out the weekend we were there. As a result also a lot of flies in the kitchen. We could have done with a bit more loo roll provided also as a large group.
