Quirky town centre apartment with river terrace

2 guests · 1 bedroom · 1 bed · 1 bathroom

A beautiful ground floor studio apartment in a surprisingly secluded yet wonderfully central town centre location. A few minutes walk from both the train station and the town centre, it is a perfect location to access all the amenities of town and to explore the Peak District (a 10 minute drive). A snug, well furnished retreat with a large bathroom (shower & bath), fully equipped kitchen with bean-to-cup coffee machine. Strong wifi & secure, gated riverside terrace with table & chairs. Spaces: The homeliest of places, with classical yet eclectic décor, this studio apartment in a converted historic mill is a cosy retreat hidden down by the river and yet within a stone’s throw of all the amenities of the town.  Secure, gated terrace, accessed with a coded gate.   There is a spacious living area, with comfortable sofa, chaise longue, coffee table and additional chairs. A sense of ‘shabby chic’ may describe the place well.  Within the main living space, there is an extendable George IV mahogany dining table, that will accommodate up to 6 people around.  The kitchen has all the required amenities: fridge- freezer, kettle, bean-to-cup coffee machine, microwave, cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and a washer-drier (the latter is available on request). The main living space is divided from the bedroom with a large bookcase, filled with a library of books, ornaments and plants.  The bedroom itself holds a double bed (brand new mattress!), with two bedside tables and wardrobe, large television with FreeSat and internet access. The bathroom is spacious with a vigorous shower, bath and heated towel rail.  There is a paved terrace overlooking the river, fringed with greenery and trees, with table and chairs outside the apartment. Beautiful sunshine to be had sitting out when the weather is fine!  Neighbourhood:  The flat is two minutes walk from both the train station and the bus station. The town centre is only a small distance further up the road. In the vicinity are a wide variety of bars and restaurants of all types, as well as take aways. I am happy to provide any information you need or recommendations.  Getting around: The train station provides a 20-30 minute direct link to Manchester City centre and a 1 hr 45 minute to London Euston direct. There is on the street parking in two hour bays immediately outside the flat and adjacent streets, which means you could leave the car there from 4pm until 10am the next morning on a normal day or We all day on a Sunday. However if you want to leave the car longer, there are relatively cheap car parks (either Pickford street or Sunderland Street car park) about a minute’s walk away - across the road. If you wanted free and unrestricted parking, you could park up on Brook Street. That is 3 or 4 minutes walk away approx.  Pets: Pets are usually welcome but please contact me when booking if you are bringing a pet so that I can confirm your pet is suitable for the property.   All areas of the flat and terrace are accessible for those using a wheelchair.

Convenient and comfortable stay.

We loved the quirky decor. Lots of character. The central location is perfect for exploring Macclesfield town. There is no private parking but plenty parking available in the streets close to the apartment.

Liked everything.

Lovely studio in a very central location.

The host was very responsive (fast and good instructions) when I needed help turning up the temperature on the hot water system. The collection of books and art work was very eclectic.

Studio flat with charm in central location

Located in central Macclesfield, the apartment was very convenient. The furnishings were original and attractive. The apartment had plenty of personality and we liked the way it felt lived in rather than an impersonal holiday let. The apartment was quiet even on New Year's Eve! We did not meet the host, Scott, but he stayed in close contact via text and was generally helpful.

The on street parking might have been awkward - it is restricted to 3 hours during the day Monday to Saturday. There wasn't all that much equipment for cooking, adequate but I could have done with another pan/wooden spoon.

I am new to Airbnb and found that everything was very straightforward. Our host, Scott, was very helpful and we were able to stay an extra night.

Scott's flat in Macclesfield was just what I needed for a couple of nights stay with my small dog. It feels like a home from home. It's close to the train station, and lots of restaurants, pubs, shops etc. The bed is large and comfy, the kitchen is well-equiped and everywhere is clean and tidy, with clear printed instructions on how to work the appliances. There is a little noise from the surrounding neighbours but this doesn't bother me. If you have a car, you can park overnight on and street right next to the flat (4pm to 10am) but must move to one of several close-by car parks during the day for around £5. Scott is on hand via text if you need anything too. Top marks! Thanks for such a welcoming and comfy stay x

Had a great stay at Scott’s. Comfy flat in a great location. Parking is only for 2hrs, nearby car park is about £6/day.

Good location

Flat was in a good location quirky decor

Flat was in a good location quirky decor which I liked but no wardrobe space as it was occupied by the owners clothing also loads of other personal stuff.I could not get the oven or grill to work and when I called Scott he did come along and sort it out.I think when you are paying for an apartment you don't expect it to feel like a flat share which was really disappointing
