Everything was good with our stay until the night before we were due to leave, when a carbon monoxide warning alarm started to sound. Airbnb were unable to do anything as the owners representative was unavailable at the time. So, in accordance with available safety advice I called 999 and within ten minutes the emergency services arrived and checked the alarm and all rooms for the presence of carbon monoxide. Nothing was found and it was determined that the batteries in the alarm were "Low". So batteries were replaced and the fire brigade (Green Team I believe) and another emergency service, carried out their duties very professionally and helpfully. Unfortunately, the gas supply had to be turned off until all gas appliances had been checked by a Gas Safe qualified Engineer. I would advise that owners check batteries in alarms more frequently so that incidents of this kind and the resulting inconvenience, can be avoided.
