perfect from start to finish, very comfortable room and a perfect setting to match, will 100% be back!

Location is fantastic, hosts very friendly but also gave us privacy, hut was lovely and warm in the cold weather! Cosy bed and shower better than expected. We’d have made more use of the outdoor area if we hadn’t been busy visiting family during our stay. So peaceful and our little dog loved it.

Had a lovely stay at Jacquie's shepherds hut. So peaceful and quiet great for some relaxing. Jacquie was there to greet us when we arrived and we felt so welcomed. Hot tub is a great addition too and a great way to end your night.

The hosts were lovely, location and view were amazing shepherds hut was spotless and absolutely loved the hot tub. Can't wait to return

The Shepherds Hut was set in a tranquil location with great views all around.! It was so peaceful, chilling in the hot tub at night and just what we needed.! Jacqui and Dave were fantastic and couldn’t do any more for our stay.!! 5star treatment, we will be back.! xx

We had a great time in the beautiful setting, had everything we needed and Jacquie and Dave were really lovely hosts. Very pet friendly which is always a big bonus for us! Would definitely come back!

There's nothing we didn't like - it's only a small place but that's to be expected! Only thing we would've liked is a note on the advert or upon booking that the hot tub would be an extra fee to make sure we were more prepared.

We had a wonderful 2 night break for my birthday. Jacquie was kind enough to leave me a birthday gift in the hut on our arrival, which was a lovely surprise. She was very attentive and such a fantastic host. The hut had everything we needed, and the views were stunning. We were lucky with the weather, so we thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the sun in the seating area all day and had a bbq both nights. The hot tub was fab too! It's a peaceful and relaxing place, I would have been happy to stay there forever, lol 😂.

We had a long drive and Jacquie and David welcomed us with open arms! Jacquie also helped us ordering some food and was very pro active and super friendly! We also used the hot tub, which was great. We liked it here very much (despite the rain haha)

Peaceful and private little cabin, perfect for two. Lovely views and a comfy bed. The hosts are so helpful and really went the extra mile.

Jacquie was fantastic from start to finish, so welcoming and was highly attentive. The hut was absolutely gorgeous with the most peaceful views. Hot tub was great, roasting and so peaceful we really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return in the future.

Nothing we didn’t like but, It rained on our stay, it would benefit from a covered area from the hut roof to the undercover seating area to keep dry if you wanted to sit out.

We had a fantastic stay in the Shepherd’s Hut at the weekend. The location was lovely and secluded, the hut itself, although small, was exactly what we were looking for. The weather wasn’t great but sitting in the hot tub was nice as it’s covered off from the wind and rain. Although the weather was bad, the hut was warm and cosy. Jacquie was lovely and welcoming, very helpful and attentive. I’d definitely visit again, thanks for everything.

Jacqui is a very attentive host and nothing is too much trouble, you can tell she enjoys having people experience their spot in Dumfries. The hut, as others have said, is small but it's cozy and gets nice and warm in the winter. We would have liked more of a kitchen to be more self sufficient but the Cavan Arms in the town is a great place for traditional pub grubb and taxis are £8-10 each way. Loads of great walks are only a stones throw away and a short drive down to the coast is always an option. We walked up Criffell in 2hrs (steep enough to get a sweat on) and had an epic 360⁰ view across the Solway firth to the Lake District then stopped at Sweetheart Abby for lunch on the way back. You won't be disappointed 👍

Had a last minute night away with my son (7) and cockapoo. Really enjoyed our night away, the shepherds hut was lovely, really cosy and clean. Both Jacquie and Dave are very welcoming and gave some lovely dinner recommendations. They have completely secure garden so my dog had free reign to run around. The hut itself was decorated nicely and was very clean and warm. The hot tub can be set up with prior request and looks out to beautiful views across the fields. We were very lucky and seen lots of fireworks from the hot tub. My son was ecstatic! We didn't take up the offer for breakfast however the option is there for a small fee. The hut is quite close to the main house however it's been set up to feel quite private. Really quiet and peaceful which was great for my slightly noise reactive dog - he barley made a noise the entire time.

Jacquie was really helpful, contacted us to help with anything we needed, and gave us a personal welcome and tour of the cabin. The cabin is small, but super cosy, has everything you need for a stay. Views are amazing, there's decking to sit out on. 10 minute drive into Dumfries. Good recommendations for things to do, where to eat, etc. Really easy and straightforward from start to finish.

The pictures just don’t describe the feeling of peace when you’re left with everything you need after being greeted with a warm smile. It’s literally nourishment for the soul. Attention to detail here for a luxurious experience combined with a real off the grid feel. Cannot rate the host or the little lodge highly enough ❤️

My German Shepherd absolutely LOVED it here so much that he spent the entire night in the lovely massive shared garden living his best life. The owners are absolutely brilliant. They both put my anxiety to ease with having a bigger (reactive) dog - who didn't bark the entire time he was there due to the tranquillity of the place! Enjoyed a BBQ on the night & the hosts bought out additional cutlery to help us out along with a candle. There was a bowl of water on arrival for the dog, which was thoughtful after a long drive. The views were as welcoming as the hosts & can't wait to return. Luckily the dog left with us.. 😅

We found the bedding a little warm, & if the weather isn't great, I'd recommend maybe taking a tablet or laptop to maybe watch a film. 🙃

Jacquie and Davy were so welcoming and helpful! Fantastic spot for a relaxed night away and great for a walk with the dog! The garden was huge and very secure again great for the dog to run around! Everything was spotless and the hot tub was an added bonus! Definitely recommend and will be back!

Had a wonderful stay in the Shepherd’s Hut as a late anniversary trip. Jacquie and her husband have a lovely slice of Scotland and it was a joy to visit. Very responsive and accommodating hosts; had a bit of difficulty finding the b&b due to an airbnb error, however were put right by David! No request or question too small or frivolous and will definitely be back!

Lovely location with beautiful nature, the starts are visible in the clear night skies to enjoy. In the morning you will wake up to birds singing and flying in the skies. We enjoyed the hot tub at night, in the cold winter the 40c hottub was the perfect way to end the night. Couldn’t recommend Jacquie more as a host, very welcoming and friendly. You will also meet the two lovely dogs they have on the premises!

I would thoroughly recommend staying at the Shepherds hut, with stunning views all round, especially from the hot tub! Jacquie and Dave were very kind and accommodating, allowing us to store our bikes in their garage. The Scottish breakfast was delicious and the perfect way to start the day, I look forward to returning to this fantastic Shepherds Hut.

The rural location was beautiful and the hosts were lovely and helpful.

I didn’t dislike anything, the only small suggestions I have is a little TV on the wall would be good (where the mirror currently is at the foot of the bed) and appreciate the room is compact, but if you could make room a small plug in stove would be a wonderful addition (can be popped away when not in use) and a toaster :) but appreciate it’s a B&B feel so may not be what you’re going for. It wouldn’t stop me staying again it was such a lovely weekend. Just little things I felt would make it absolutely perfect.

I had a lovely stay - the hut is just wonderful and spacious too! It was chilly, so I kept warm in the hot tub and had a grand old time! Highly recommend for a relaxing break!

Excellent hut with a really homely feel to it. The shower was great and fixtures and fittings had been well considered during its construction. The grounds are lovely and great for a well-behaved dog to explore. Dave & Jacquie were perfect hosts. We had a really memorable and enjoyable stay.

Absolutely beautiful wee shepherds hut just at the back of the b&b. Hosts were so so welcoming and really nothing was too much bother for them. Wee Douglas the westie was a great wee scrabble companion too. Such a peaceful place, would 100% recommend!

The postcode didn't lead us to the property but Jacqueline sent us very accurate directions use those.

The hut is spotlessly clean and has everything you could imagine. Host was great to deal with during stay. Double check postcode before travelling and the fridge is a bit noisy which slightly ruined an almost perfect place to relax. Don't let this put you off though.

Comfortable, clean cabin. Nice shower and toilet room. Provided mini fridge and microwave as well as good access to take aways considering the rural location. Friendly hosts with good recommendations.

The hot tub access was poor compared to what was advertised. Advertisement did not make it clear that hot tub was to be booked so we only had a couple hours at night. Fresh towels would have been nice. The wifi was pretty much non-existent. Was very disappointed when at the very end of the visit we were asked to pay £50 more for hot tub access as this extra fee was not once stated on booking.com. The total price for 2 nights was £290 for very basic facilities and so we didn't think it was good value for money at all.

Jacqie and Dave are probably one of the kindest people I’ve met.Jacquie’s response time is quite fast, and her instructions are crystal clear.Their place was absolutely beautiful and I loved every moment of our stay. This is definitely somewhere you want to stay, and hate when you have to leave. Clean and beautiful, just as advertised! Would recommend to anyone who is visiting Dumpfries.Jacquie and Dave provided very detailed check-in and out processes which benefited the stay! Great value considering the overall unit, location, and free parking space! Would definitely visit again.

We have really enjoyed our break away in the shepherds lodge, it offers wonderful views we managed to enjoy a sunset and sunrise during our stay. It offers Peaceful surroundings. Relaxing use of the hot tube. The hosts Jacquie Dave & Dougal 🐾 were so welcoming friendly and helpful, they have interesting & knowledgeable information of the local area. Thank you. We will certainly recommend this stunning place to people. We hope to return sometime in the future.
